LAST DAYS OF THE EXHIBITION
EVERYTHING NOT SAVED WILL BE LOST
Charlie Stein
Kunsthalle 2, CCA Andratx
03.10.25 – 20.03.26
On view until Friday, March 20.
In collaboration with Opalis Projects.
“Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost,” once a simple warning to video game players, becomes here both title and omen. The familiar message shifts from a technical reminder into a reflection on the fragility of the present: relationships fray, cultural memory fades, habitats disappear. Without deliberate acts of preservation, much of what defines an era slips quietly through our fingers.
The paintings introduce figures and objects suspended between the fetishistic and the familiar: latex-coated torsos, gloved hands guiding needles, padded bodies locked in a tender yet uncanny embrace. Gleaming, distorted, and half-humanoid, these forms resist easy readability. They exist as objects among objects, carriers of tension, desire, control, and surrender.
Within these lacquered bodies and synthetic lovers lies a quiet urgency. What is worth saving when the world seems organized around forgetting? The padded figures cling to one another like archival bundles. Their embrace functions simultaneously as armor and wound. Connection appears here as something fragile, strange, sometimes monstrous, yet undeniably tender under the pressures of technological mediation, pandemic isolation, and ecological fracture.

Everything Not Saved will be Lost
Kunsthalle CCA Andratx, Mallorca
Oct 1st 2025 - March 20th 2026
“Virtually Yours” plays on the phrase “Sincerely yours,” often used in letters or messages to express a sense of personal connection or affection. By replacing “sincerely” with “Virtually,” the title introduces a futuristic twist to the traditional expression, indicating a romantic relationship that takes place in a virtual or digital realm.
Since “Virtually” can both mean“in the virtual realm,” as well as “really” in colloquial English, the title is hinting at a state of being not quite there or not fully realized. In this context, “Virtually Yours” takes on an additional layer of meaning, inviting contemplation of the elusive and intangible nature of human connection.
Through various depictions of interactions and expressions , the exhibition evokes notions of yearning and vulnerability in the digital age, highlighting the complexities of relationships that exist on the precipice of becoming something more substantial or remaining in a virtual state.
The series “Virtually Yours” becomes an exploration of the human experience, the yearning for closeness, and the nuances of relationships that teeter between the actual and the potential.

Charlie Stein – Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost
Opening: Friday, Oct 3, 2025
Kunsthalle II, CCA Andratx, Mallorca
Borrowing its title from meme culture, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost looks at how meaning mutates in a world saturated by technology and survival anxiety. The works on view merge intimacy with simulation: padded figures, synthetic surfaces, uncanny gestures. They ask what remains when memory glitches, when bodies and objects collapse into each other, when nothing feels secure.
