Just a quick rant about LUFS and loudness monitoring for mastering tracks. Please take this with a grain of salt I am merely a young Padawan. This is a very subjective and opinionated subject. I personally have a sweet spot at -10 Lufs
(Loudness Units relative to Full Scale)
for my tracks but a lot of Dubstep, Riddim, and Jump Up. Pioneering Artists such as @skrillex , @subtronics , @knock2music , @habstrakt , and @hamdimusic aim to be as loud as possible. I want to be loud but not at the expense of my songs character, dynamic range, and style that I’m going for. I will always use reference to similar tracks and mixes to meter the LUFs level and monitor dynamic range. Although.. No audio tool or visual meter representation can be trusted as much as the trust I give to my ears and my gut. But I would recommend Youlean Loudness Meter for metering it’s free!
