The only stuntwoman at a stunt section of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance shares her experience how they pulled it off. Identity and culture were central to the moment, as Jewelianna Ramos began by saying she is a “PROUD Puerto Rican.” Jewelianna Ramos (@karate.jewels ), a SAG-AFTRA stunt actress, World Champion Martial Artist who has appeared in Cobra Kai, Black Panther, Beetlejuice, Mortal Kombat, Superman, Peacemaker, Marvel & more, revealed that “they were only 3 stunt performers and 3 riggers” executing the sequence live inside one of the world’s biggest broadcasts. She explained the team performed on an “auto belay system”, where performers “needed to be locked off or something to hold on to to maintain balance.” The precision required meant every movement depended on coordination between performers and riggers in real time. Ramos described the segment as “Experimental Stunt Performance.” She wrote: “What you DIDN’T see at the Super Bowl halftime show. Today, I wrapped one of my first jobs where I was as formally hired just to specifically cover still photography for action unit. A couple of years ago, people who thought they had the right to teach told me that this would never be possible. I think what they should have told me is that it was not practical for many—as not many people have what it takes to commit to the path it took to get here. On such an important week for my career—and stunts as a whole, there are not many more experiences that make me more confident in myself. and my choice of community. I am grateful for my coordinator Max for entrusting me with a little more than just photo and my incredible team — @ljlavecchia @minnesoderman @laurenmarykim @bretter_action @chriscolestunts @stabbygab as well as Brian // Joe for their access and trust to allow me to grow my eye while on the job with some of our best rigger in the game. Being surrounded by my stunt friends on the day our Oscar gets confirmed for addition in 2027 seems only fitting.
