That’s my residency week with @summerhallarts coming to an end - thank you for having me! It’s been great 🔥 I’ve been in a studio by myself for most of the week, but it’s actually flown by. I’ve tried out loads of things, while also feeling like I didn’t do anywhere near enough… This post is a bit of a random dump of things I’ve been working on, it’s cool to see the progress through the week. Feel like I’ve got such a clearer idea of where I wanna take my work with dance / film next, including how I want to update my show. Thank you for all the love on MXV VOL. 2: CAUTION, both online and IRL. The messages, comments, shares, and in-person conversations have been amazing. The response, and seeing the interest from dancers, choreographers, and film crew / creatives wanting to be involved in future projects, shows the hunger for this kind of work and also the opportunities currently lacking within this space. I’m so glad it’s resonating, and my brain is buzzing with what wild creative combinations we could throw together next. VOL. 3 loading… VOL 2 - CAUTION brought together dancers from @tmrwcrew2020 and @wamnam.official , mixing styles and dancers to create a hip hop concept piece exploring anger and conflict. ⚠️ MXV CREW VOL. 2: CAUTION is here! A hip hop-inspired dance film exploring anger: a raw, often repressed emotion. This piece is about frustration. Fighting with others. Fighting with yourself. In a world full of competition & pressure, this project channels that tension through movement, film, and VFX. We learnt a lot on this shoot, from gaffing ourselves to shooting techniques, and pushed ourselves across every stage of production. Huge thanks to the dancers and crew who brought their unique spark to this project, both on-set and in performance. The concept inspiration from hip hop, Street Fighter, and even corporate uniformity (something that makes me particularly angry😅). You’ll see that in the styling, somewhere between workwear and Tekken! and in the location itself: the incredible @biscuitfactoryedin , almost looks like a fight club.
