I found this ābrokenā 35 mm film camera in a camera store this summer for $20 ($10 for the body, $10 for the lens). I was just going to use it as a decoration, but I had a feeling I could fix it. After messing with it for a few minutes and looking up some old manuals, I was able to get the shutter to fire, so I decided I should clean it up and use it instead of letting it collect dust. Hereās the process of doing that; I cut out a lot of it for time in this video, but after replacing the batteries, the light seal foam, and cleaning it inside and out, itās good as new! My life has been consumed by filmmaking for the last year and a half, and I thought that this project and making a short video about the process would be a fun challenge and a good symbolic representation for how much Iāve learned in this short period of time. Hopefully you enjoy this, and if you can guess how long it actually took me, Iāll give you a high five!

The few seconds of footage at the end are from a trip to California (and everywhere else in between) that my Grandpa took in the late 60s, and the film reel that the footage is from and others are what the projector is displayed on in the few moments before itās shown.
