Want to make more of these happen for Round 2? I’ve got walls and I’ve got paper — just need the fuel to keep going. Throwing a few bucks to the Venmo goes further than you’d think. And if you’ve got a wall and want something on it, shoot me a message. This city’s on fire right now. Let’s act like it. Go Sabres. Venmo: @ maxcollins_studio (link in bio) Special thank you to all the supporters who made this round 1 batch of murals possible: @freestreettavern @sportscitypizzapub @savarinoprops @chandlerstreetbreweries @queen_city_vintage_716 And shout out @meccay_photography for snagging a gameday pic of the Lindy mural at 95 Perry.

Looking to do a run of Sabres pieces for the playoffs! Do you know someone who owns a wall or wants to sponsor a mural?

The @buffalomarathon celebrates its 25th anniversary. Al Longo, now the race’s operations director, once laughed at the idea of running. Today, after years of miles and marathons, he helps lead what he calls a hidden gem of an event. In the May issue of Spree, we explore Buffalo's long-distance running culture and the community behind it. On shelves next week. Story by Mark Ciemcioch Photo by Max Collins (@maxcollins_studio )

I started making work about screen addiction 15 years ago. In a body of work titled “No More Talking” I created zombie-like portraits of kids and young adults (myself included) illuminated solely by computer screens as a way to contemplate the way our physical and social behavior appear while we engage with our phones and computers. The nature of this project is what inspired my initial foray into wheat-pasting my work out in the world; as a way to have the photographs be something you were meant to experience in person. I’ve been thinking about this work in the wake of a jury ruling last week that Meta and YouTube deliberately built their platforms to be addictive - and that executives knew it. The jury found the companies liable for designing harmful products that targeted young users awarding $6 million in damages. That’s pennies to companies like that, but it’s a notable precedent that’s been set on how these companies operate. Social media is complicated. It makes me feel connected and isolated; inspired and depressed. I love it and I hate it. How do you feel about this place?

I gave a talk at @huntartgallery about how grief, the ephemerality of wheat-paste, and becoming a funeral director inspires me to capture unique moments and relationships to remember in the future. Yearbook portraits of the current cohort at the Hunt Gallery Residency. Buffalo, March 2026. Thanks for having me @huntresidencies 🙏

Are eyes windows to the soul? Featured are some installation images of a commission for the Goldstein family to capture their three kiddos. To make the pieces more timeless, i proposed focusing on their eyes, because it’s a feature that that will change the least as they grow up and the light that is uniquely alive in a child’s eye is worth preserving. Much gratitude to the family for trusting me with such a fun project.

I finally met the artist W.C. Maggio on Saturday. He said, “you can call me Bill.” I replied, “I’m a big fan.” Shockingly, he said he was too, so I seized the opportunity and asked if I could take his picture. I’ve admired the depth and palpable energy of his paintings for years. As intriguing as they are through photographs, they’re even better in person. You can meet these paintings and the man behind them in real life through the end of January at his exhibit “Time Indefinite” located at 1120 Main Street in Buffalo, NY. He’ll be there every Saturday from 12-4pm. He said, if you can’t make it, send him a message and he would be happy to set up an appointment. To see more of his work, follow @wcmaggio

I have an ouroboros tattoo around my left forearm so it felt serendipitous that our son Theo was born in 2025, the year of the snake. This year, skin was shed, my ego buried, and my heart opened in unimaginable ways. Unchanging has been the support and love we’ve received transitioning into this new chapter, which has left me overwhelmed with gratitude to so many of you. Wishing that the wind be at your back in the new year.

ZACH’S B-DAY ASADO | Portrait shoots can be awkward, which is why my favorite method is to build it in to an existing event, like my dear friend’s epic birthday cookout last year. It’s spontaneous, playful, and frankly more real. Along with portraits of guests and shots of the day, this album is a beautiful time capsule of an event and the community it brought together. Looking to 2026, I’d love to do more of this. So if you have a family reunion, birthday party, or any event that’s bringing your people together, I encourage you to reach out. I’d love to help commemorate your community.

Staff shots for @gobikebuffalo ! A powerful organization doing important work to make bike riding more accessible in WNY. If you ever wonder who’s responsible for all the bike lanes and bike racks around the city, it’s these guys. It was an honor to document this team!
