Naked Kitchen (A‘s kitchen)
Recently I built this kitchen for A.
Naked Kitchen is showing the raw surfaces of domestic appliances, combined with soft wooden parts that have craftsmanship written all over them.
„Do you know this feeling when you have to open a door that has not been opened for a while? Maybe because an animal crawled inside and is hiding? What do you see?“
“I see a layer of dust” said A. “that does not correspond to the rest of my life. I see a dried up moth. I see deposits of my breath.” — “Maybe even mold.”
In the naked kitchen we condemn closets, drawers and closed cabinets of any kind. We welcome open storage and shelves that are one row deep.
„You see this massive piece of wood? It is not containing anything else than the continuation of its own surface.“
„The outside is the inside. And the inside is the outside.“ said A.
For the sink we chose a custom made, massive 80 kg terrazzo sink that looks like a salami.
Naked Kitchen is installed in Pankow, Berlin.
