2 days ago, we had a small short film screening in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. It's a first in the province as most film activities are competitions or festivals. And just recently, a workshop.
2 days after this small activity, I still find myself lost for words because CK and I thought it would only be 5 of us. And sabi namin, okay lang kung walang pumunta. Magmomovie marathon nalang kami. Eme. But we had 15 people who attended and the best part of it, everyone left the room inspired and happy, and asking if there's another one of this. Ang saya din marinig different perspectives!!
And yes! We're hoping for more—more activities to do, more people to meet, more love for the craft.
@commando_kyle and I would love to thank the people who keep inspiring us and showing us how passion for creating and sharing stories is sustained by an unending love for the craft and for the people you do them with.
To the directors who lent their stories and gave their support:
Direk Glenn Barit - Luzonensis Osteoporosis
Direk Julius Renomeron - Heist School
Direk Angel Allizon Cruz - Dito, Dati
To our inspirations and the people who remind us that kindness and love are the core for great stories:
Direk Arvin Belarmino
Ms. Kristine De Leon
Angela Colada
To MCB, for supporting our small activity at the last minute!!! 🤝☕️
And to those who attended (esp our supportive friends), thank you!!! We hope to see you again next time and sana with more people! ☺️🙏
Lastly, CK. Thank you for believing in my random ideas! Hahahaha. Kahit naglast minute tayo sa venue at muntik ko nang sabihin na wag na tayo tumuloy 😆
To having a community who shares the same passion, love, and admiration for filmmaking and film itself 🎬🤍
4. EXT. ALLEY 9 LANE 443 XINYI DISTRICT, TAIPEI - NIGHT.
We somehow found ourselves on the sidewalks of Taipei—tired, hungry, dehydrated, but somehow still manage to not argue about the itinerary or about going home. We were anticipating some sort of argument all throughout the trip. But there weren't any. None.
I watched the two converse, blocking out their voices. There was silence, only hearing the sound of the vendors chatting and cooking whatever they were selling. Thoughts come flooding to my mind.
Friendships often come with inconveniences, adjustments, lots of sighs and "okays" to give each other conveniences. I guess with us, we've known each other long enough to not argue over the little things anymore. We've already seen our 14-year-old selves go through the most awkward and weirdest phases where our 20 plus-year-old selves would only cringe at now. And every time one of us craves home, one call on the group chat and we're all talking as if nothing's wrong. Our friendship was one of the most unexpected things that happened in high school. We never really thought we'd still be friends 10 years after. But here we are—in the streets of Taipei, catching up with each other's lives.
As I come back to my senses, I signaled to both of them that we had to keep on moving to find dinner. And although I felt tired, hungry, dehydrated, I felt complete, contented, fulfilled—with knowing that even when reality is chaos for all of us, our friendship is one we can run to for air.
somehow, among the waves of shoots and preps, i found myself in the middle of taipei with my friends—romanticizing life and planning for our next escape from reality 🌳🎋
