Looming II
A restless nights sleep in mid-March lead me to waking up at 5am to my cat pawing at the window towards the thickest fog I had seen in a long time. I was out the door in 20 minutes with half a roll of ColorPlus and a broken tripod. It would’ve been 10 minutes but Skye needed thanking via a hurricane of petting for alerting me to the wonder.

It’s been a while, I’ve forgotten how to make pictures.
Half of a minor reflection on being diagnosed with ADHD near the beginning of the year, the representations that have followed me around since my earliest scattered teenage memories and on the medication trials that have saved me. It seems that I started making these in the summer and have only just found them again this evening, after being distracted by the everything of everything in the world. Here’s to the multicoloured golden hour and to hope for the years to come.

something that i never knew
or ever had.

I often struggle to find the right words. What to think, what to say, how to pitch it and how to sink it, how to reel in the load and spit it out. How to word it, what to write.
How to attempt to reclaim. How to scribble back the years. I’ve wasted so much paper.
It seems strange to find solace and expression in something that, in a way, and a while ago, really screwed things up in the immediate. It’s more like an everpresent background hum now. No matter. There are still brief moments when I can enjoy this frame. This privileged one. A glimmer. That’s more progress than I’d have ever thought possible.
