If you are going to build the world’s smartest heater, you have to test it properly!
Over the past few weeks, elite mountaineers @adri.brownlee and @ngatenjisherpa been using Mat Zero heated mats at Everest Base Camp, one of the harshest environments on Earth.
From the beginning, we wanted to design heating differently: intelligent warmth that uses very little energy while still working in demanding real-world conditions. That means testing beyond the lab, in places where staying warm is critical, and energy is limited.
Seeing Mat Zero being used at high altitude, in sub-zero temperatures, powered in challenging conditions, has been a pretty special moment for our team.
Safe to say, Everest nights feel a little less harsh with a Mat Zero nearby.

Last week, Founder @sri.hollema had the privilege of speaking at the Nepalese Embassy here in London.
She spoke about Mat Zero's work in rural Nepal: reducing carbon emissions in households through clean cooking and heating, and our partnerships with maternity wards to protect some of the most vulnerable people during the coldest months.
Nepal has always been more than a project for us. It's a connector. It brings people together across borders, disciplines, and causes. If you have been or worked with Nepal, you'll have experienced the same feelings.

A full circle moment a couple of weeks ago at Anthropy, where I met Ellen MacArthur, not for the first time, but for the second.
I first met Ellen when I was just 6 years old in Indonesia. Even though I was so young, it left a real impression on me, and the postcard she gave me, saying "Go for it" has been my motto ever since.
Thank you Ellen for inspiring thousands of young children, especially young girls. It meant a lot to see you again.
Who knows, maybe our paths will cross again, maybe with our heated mats on your boats?
