Rock N Roll lost one of its greatest producers yesterday…Jack Douglas most famous for his work with Aerosmith on albums Toys In The Attic , Rocks & Draw the Line. A producers role with a band like Aerosmith was to harness their sound and he did just that. When Jack came back with Aerosmith in 2012 for Music from Another Dimension .. I was down the hall and Jack invited me into the studio and was remixing John Lennon’s Double Fantasy. It was incredible hearing the tracks separated and outtakes no one had ever heard. I’ll never forget that day. I also sat in on some of the Aerosmith sessions and got to watch him work. The band trusted him like a sixth member. Without him everything with Aerosmith , John Lennon , Cheap Trick and many more bands would just be different or not at all. Thank you Jack for all the beautiful sounds you help create. So glad you stopped by planet earth. #ripjackdouglas

Last night was a fun one sharing the stage with Randy Jackson who is a musician I’ve known for 40 plus years and of course got famous on American Idol. We did a panel discussing our careers in music and the great songs we’ve been a part of with Roundhill Music. @roundhillmusic@randyjackson
At Stagecoach last night with Ace things got a bit crazy with the wind and everyone was asked to evacuate. As local desert people April is traditionally a windy month. Mother Nature was kickin pretty hard that’s for sure but eventually calmed down. Even we left for an hour & 1/2 but made our way back to catch the downbeat of Lainey Wilson’s set whose stage time was postponed an hour. She came out and gave a stellar performance with a killer band. I think we had the best seat in the house too !!
A shot from my office at Long Beach Grand Prix. I’ve played the biggest stadiums to the smallest clubs and I love them all. People have asked me what was my greatest gig and I have to say there’s many special ones from my first show with GNR at Rock in Rio in 91 to The Freddie Mercury tribute at Wembley Stadium to The Viper with Neurotic Outsiders with Iggy Pop on vocals climbing the rafters. But playing the town I was born Long Beach is pretty cool. Just behind the stage we’re on is the original Long Beach Arena where I saw my first concert at 15 …KISS with the James Gang opening in 1975 and where I headlined with The Cult in 1989. Walking to the stage is always exciting and these photos show I’m relaxed but amped all at the same time with my band Kings of Chaos and I like to keep it that way. I play with the best musicians and coolest people. No assholes allowed !! It keeps me on my toes learning new songs for each show and this one was no exception . With songs from Live , 311 & Aloe Blacc along with some killer jamming with Guitar Virtuosos Orianthi & Nuno Bettencourt we keep it loose and and off the cuff. We only rehearse once so the fun on stage is spontaneous and exciting for the band and the audience. Thank you to Ed Kowalczyk, Nick Hexum , Aloe Blacc , Orianthi, Nuno , James LoMenzo , Mike Mangan , Farmer and Carl Restivo for jumping in last minute to cover harmonies & various percussion.
