All Access Comedy was an absolute dream 🥰
Last night we put on the very first ever night of all disabled comics at the Glasgow Stand, to a packed out room no less.
In about July last year, Matt Macdonald slid in to our DMs and said I hear the new Stand will be step-free and I think there should be a night of comedy of all disabled acts and we said f*ck yeh let’s do it.
It’s been months and months in the planning since then.
I went and stuck a Creative Scotland application in, thinking we had absolutely zero chance but worth a shot, and miraculously got the funding. Which meant that we could pay the venue split, pay all the acts, pay Matt and I for our work on it, pay for marketing and for press, pay a photographer so that all the acts come away with professional stage shots and head shots for future promo, pay a film crew to film the whole show so that all the acts have clips for their socials or to share with bookers. And to pay for things like a stool at the perfect height for acts to lean on on stage, and taxi’s to help acts get to the venue.
And, for funding to film a little something something, and to host a little something something to show people the something something. More to come.
And not to mention, that last night, every single act absolutely smashed it. It was a genuinely incredible night of comedy. All of these acts are ones to watch. Give them a follow and keep an eye on the lot.
