‘Boston’s Huntington Theatre will host a world premiere run of Matthew Lombardo’s new comedy When Playwrights Kill April 3-18. Noah Himmelstein is directing.
The production has assembled a cast of stage favorites to star in the new work, including Tony winner Beth Leavel as Brooke Remington, Tony winner Matt Doyle as Jack Hawkins, Kevin Chamberlin as Oliver Kendall Walker, Adam Heller as Freddie Carlton, Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur as Liz Jennings, and Tomás Matos as Tobias Deschanel. Further casting, by Nick Peciaro, is to be announced.
The backstage comedy centers on an aspiring playwright suffering through a disastrous out-of-town try-out with an insane star leading the cast. When all other options seem untenable, he decides saving this play might just involve murdering its leading lady.
Naughty Playwright, LLC, Bryan McCaffrey, Laura Z. Barket, Alan Seales, Raymond Esposito, Amy Wen, and Jason and Kira Turchin are producing, with BPM Theatrical serving as general managers.‘
