So many flowers in bloom right now.
This new piece is inspired by the amazing peony blooms we are having! Happy spring!
Peony, 2026
40x40x12
Steel w/powdercoat
Standing at just over 17’ tall and made of stainless steel, Arriba was placed just outside of San Diego in 2015. From maquette phase to installation, this sculpture took about 2 years to complete.
Arriba, literally means “up” in Spanish, and I wanted this sculpture to feel as though it was rising up from the earth, and could just keep going.
Thanks to @betsylaneart for the commission, @pageartprojects for overseeing the project, @leveloneartinstallation for a stellar installation job, and @studiomaha for the killer final pics!
Finally able to get this 450lb 60” round installed in LA this week!! The team at @leveloneartinstallation did an incredible job as usual. Eric always makes the super tricky installs look easy! Thank you to Helene at @freshpaintartadvisors for this wonderful commission, and thanks Jon for adding another piece of mine to your collection!
No Kings, 2026
36x36x5
Steel with brass powdercoat
I made the original one of these back in 2016 called Morning After, it was when the orange turd won the 1st time and the world was in shock. I wanted it to have a crown of thorns type feel and a fake gold/brass finish. This one titled No Kings is self explanatory and the follow up to the 2015 piece. #fdt #nokings
New diptych on its way to @stephaniebreitbardfinearts and the SF Art Fair opening April 15th!
Evening Strolls, 2026
44H x 67W x 6D
Aluminum with powdercoat
Inspired by the evening farms walks with my family during the spring, this diptych represents the mown paths through the tall grass we walk through. It’s a pleasant time of day and a place to reflect and reconnect on the life and the days events.
Hard to believe this was a year ago at my solo museum show! @oceansidemuseum
This suspended sculpture, “Variance 12-33”, was a play on the contrast between my time living in Southern California and the Pacific Northwest. More specifically the rainfall amounts, number of days and storm degrees.
The sculpture suspends 12” off the ground, representing the average annual rainfall of Oceanside, CA (where the show was) and the blue tubes were 43” long, representing the annual rainfall amounts of my current location in the PNW. There was 144 tubes in total representing the average annual days of rain in the PNW. As the tubes sway, they produce a chime-like sound, echoing the wind chimes on our property, which are especially active during the rainstorms that frequent the region.
Variance 12-43 invited a sensory exploration of climate, place, and sound, highlighting the contrasts between two distinct environments.
New suspended commission ready to go to the Alps! This one says INDENBERGANDAHEIM, (In The Mountains), and will hang in a clients mountain chalet. Thanks @whistlercontemporarygallery !
