Music used to feel metaphysical. I used to touch physical images of musicians in the press, listen to their songs and try to piece together the mystery of who the artist REALLY was. Like unraveling and peeling back the layers of an onion. What was it like to feel like the mf who wrote this? What were they feeling or living? Their lives seemed to be in technicolor compared to mine when I was a kid. I couldn’t wait to get out there and experience the worlds they did.
