IT’S HERE Y’ALL! My version of “Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know” is officially out in the world and I couldn’t be happier. 🥹 As a life-long lover of both @britneyspears and this incredible song, I semi-jokingly texted @andrewecapra one day “Hey what if we made this song a big and bombastic country ballad?” — to my shock he said “LETS GO!”. The song then came to life in ways I could have only dreamed of. One of the many ways was in how I wanted to tribute the original version. Fun fact — @shaniatwain and legendary producer @robertjohnmuttlange are singing all the harmonies on Brit’s original version. I wanted so badly to not only get legends on my version but also people who have inspired my artistry. I knew it needed to be a guy and a girl so I asked my sweet friend and former member of the iconic group Jump5 @libbynevins1 to lend her incredible voice and Y’ALL I was GIDDY hearing her voice SOAR over the top of mine. I love you Libby!! When it came to the guy, I knew I needed a big voice with all the grit and power — so I sheepishly asked THE @aj_mclean (who has become like family and always championed me) and his resounding YES made my heart leap! Being in the studio with him was a MASTERCLASS and his voice was exactly what the song needed + the Y2K of it all made me just so happy!! Love you so much, dad. Of course had to also tribute Brit’s original and beautiful single artwork with a little help from my @blakespopnook ! So happy with the recreation we did because you know your boy LOVES a reference! Lastly, working on this song has just made me stop and love on 8-year-old Matty. I think about telling the little boy who waited in line at Best Buy for @britneyspears ’s “Oops!…I Did it Again” album about this manifestation and it makes me very emo. 🥹 I hope y’all love it as much as I loved bringing it to life. At the end of the day, it really is a love letter to two people — Little Matty and sweet Brit. 🤍✨
