This year I committed to creating one personal video every month.
For this one, I went back to recreate a photo I originally took in 2021.
I had everything planned… except the weather didn’t cooperate. Rain, clouds, more rain.
Could’ve forced it, but it wouldn’t have been the same shot.
So I waited it out and came back when the conditions actually made sense.
Same location. Same idea. A completely different version of me behind the camera.
Project 4/12
This year I committed to creating one personal video every month.
Most of what I make is tied to clients, deadlines, and deliverables. This isn’t.
Filming is the easy part. Finishing is where most ideas stop.
No brief. No one waiting on it. Just deciding to sit down and do the work anyway.
Project 3/12
This year I committed to creating one personal video every month.
Most of what I shoot is tied to clients, deadlines, and deliverables. This challenge is about making space for something that’s fully mine.
Everyone knows Shediac in the summer. Boats in the harbour, packed beaches, patios full.
But after a snowstorm, it feels like a completely different place.
The coastline is quieter. The colours are muted. The pace slows down.
Same town. Different season. Different story.
Project 2/12
This year I told myself I’d make one small personal video every month.
I spend most of my time creating content for clients and businesses, which means I almost never make something just for myself with full creative control.
This month I wanted to capture a short hike at the Bluff Trail in Sussex. The wind had other plans. It was strong, unpredictable, and made flying a drone way harder than expected. Almost every shot I had in mind didn’t work out.
It’s not exactly what I pictured, but that’s kind of the point. I tend to chase perfection, and that usually means ideas never get posted at all.
So here’s what I was able to put together, while nearly losing my drone to the wind.
Project 1/12
In 2021, I set a goal to acquire a rental property before the end of 2025—no clue how I’d make it happen, but I was determined. I was also planning on doing it alone.
Back then, I was still in school with no summer job lined up and feeling the pressure. I reached out to my good friend @itsmartinmei hoping for a job at his real estate wholesaling company. Little did I know, that job would unveil a passion I didn’t even know I had: Real Estate Investing.
Over the next couple of years, I talked about my goals with friends whenever the topic came up. One day, one of those friends came to me, shared the same goal, and asked if I wanted to partner up. That moment changed everything. We had a rough plan now.
Fast forward to November 2024—we launched our corporation, started managing one of our other partner’s property, and began the search for tenants.
December 2024: We found an awesome young family (and their dog!) to rent the property. (Thanks to @hubcitypm for helping make it happen)
And now, I can officially say the property is ours—under our corporation! Looking back to 2021 when this felt almost impossible when i was planning on doing it alone. With the help of incredible partners, we not only achieved the goal but did it a full year ahead of schedule.
Next goal: Property #2 by the end of 2027.
