We ended the Chord Notes: Body Rhythms in the city exhibition with an evening of scent, music, and good energy.
Our final gathering brought together Make Your SCENT with @abela_olfactoryartcentre and the Closing Party hosted by WeAreAllChemicals ( @blessing_ewona ) , creating an evening where fragrance, rhythm, and movement became ways of holding memory and celebrating collective experience.
Through the scent workshop, participants explored fragrance as a personal and cultural archive, creating compositions that reflected memory, identity, and emotion. As the evening unfolded into sound, WeAreAllChemicals ( @blessing_ewona ) carried us through a genre-fluid set of Afrobeat, electronic, and underground sounds, closing the exhibition on a note that felt energetic, intimate, and alive.

On Saturday, April 18th 2026, we gathered to slow down with @matriaerlab
We were welcomed into "The Breathing City", where we were invited to settle into our bodies and return to the simple act of breathing. Guided by @goodfaithyoga , the session moved gently through moments of stillness and guided exercises, helping us tune into rhythm, pace, and the relationship between body and environment.
Within that shared space, breath became a way of sensing and moving through the city differently. A pause from the constant motion of Lagos, creating room to reflect, reconnect, and simply be.
It was a quiet, grounding moment. One that lingers in the body, in memory, and in the way we return to our breath.

Join us for Make Your SCENT, a workshop by Abela. A Lagos-based olfactory artist and founder of Abela® World, her practice explores scent as a medium of cultural memory, identity, and emotional architecture.
Working at the intersection of fragrance, art, and heritage, Abela invites participants to engage scent as a language, one that holds memory, evokes feeling, and connects the body to place. Through this workshop, you are invited to create a fragrance that is personal, intuitive, and reflective of your own sensory archive.
The evening continues with the Chord Notes Closing Party, music by WeAreAllChemicals. A Nigerian DJ known for blending experimental energy with dancefloor intuition, her genre fluid sets move across Afrobeat, electronic, and underground sounds, creating moments that feel personal, unpredictable, and alive.
From scent to sound, we gather one last time to move, to feel, and to carry the rhythms of the city forward.

We had the pleasure of hosting MatriAér Lab for an inspiring artist talk moderated by @ade.oluwajoba . The collective shared insights into The Breathing City, an imaginative vision of urban life paced by the rhythm of breath, where architecture, traffic, labour, and domestic life move in sync like a living body.
Through conversation and real-life manifestations of their installation, MatriAér Lab ( @matriaerlab ) revealed the essence of their practice, grounding utopic ideas in tangible processes and opening up new ways of dreaming about interconnected futures.
