On 19 March, a group exhibition opened as part of the international project “The Frontispiece | Precipice” at Fundação Marques da Silva in Porto
@fundacao_marquesdasilva , organised by FBAUP – Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, under the curatorship of artist and professor Graciela Machado.
I am grateful that Graciela recognised our potential during her visit to
@akademijazaumjetnostikulturu in Osijek and invited me to curate a selection of Croatian printmakers (Mario Čaušić
@mariocausic , Iva Muškić
@ivamuskic , Igor Čabraja and Miran Šabić
@miransabic ), which later expanded to the wider region – Renata Papišta
@papistarenata (BiH) and Jelena Sredanović
@jsredanovic (Serbia). The works, both conceptually and in terms of execution, explore the relationship between printmaking and architecture. For this occasion, I wrote a text entitled “Babels of Memory: Architecture as a Sign in Printmaking”, which will be presented in May with the publication of a book documenting and presenting the project.
The exhibition brings together 41 artists from 15 countries, and this trip to Porto, both mine and Mario’s, is part of the artistic‑research project “Fields of the Invisible” at the Academy of Arts and Culture, through which we are building the international visibility of printmaking, AUKOS and the city of Osijek.
Also, it was nice to see some old friends, as well as to meet a new one ✌️
And Porto… in a single word – breathtaking 👌
