Matt Kieser runs Orphan Street Clothing Shop in Sea Point, Cape Town. He came from fashion and menswear. He fell into road cycling roughly ten years ago and couldn’t claw his way back out. And somewhere between his obsession with how kit looks and how a community feels, he built something that most shops never manage to become: a place people actually want to be.
This episode is about all of it. The store. The Thursday rides. The people who’ve been burning each other on Strava for fifteen years and then finally shake hands over a coffee. The Pas Normal brand summits in Barcelona, Mallorca, and Copenhagen. And what it really takes to build a space in a city that already has plenty of bike shops.

Feeling reflective lying on the couch all day.
The different iterations of @o_s_c_s_clubhouse over the past 5 years, think we can finally chill for a while.
Good to remember where it came from to see where it’s hopefully going.
Couldn’t do it without everyone constantly coming through 💛
10/10 do not recommend breaking your femur. That thing hurts like hell.
Massive shoutout to the boys on the scene for getting me out the road and out of traffic, propping me up and calling for help. No cars involved, just me sliding out on a corner I’ve ridden around a thousand times and some bad luck.
10/10 DO recommend, finding a partner who drops everything for you at anytime @mollykieser was at the hospital morning, noon and night. I haven’t wanted for anything.
Family and friends, driving me home from the hospital, being there when I came out of surgery, reaching out, bringing food, messages, thanks so much ❤️
