Welcome to Shangri-blah, baby
Y'all have been sending us the most amazing stories and love notes the past few weeks. Our hearts are full and we want you to know how much y'all meant to us too.
While this band may be over, we will both still be creating as individuals, whether that's food, visuals or music. We will always be artists and we hope to see you again in some capacity. If you don't already, you can follow us at @suede_james and @ryanritual if you want to stay connected.
Shout out to our all time favorite photographer @ledouche for capturing the last photo of us in the green room of the Lodge Room.
See ya around xo
Our final trip into nostalgia will be the song that has kept us around for 10 years, the bop that keeps on giving, I Wear Glasses.
This was the first Mating Ritual song Taylor and I wrote together, and as confusing as it may sound, I do not wear glasses. I wear sunglasses frequently, but as far as the seeing eye glasses the song references, that is alllll Taylor. He penned that line and the rest is history. We've played this song at nearly every single Mating Ritual show, and every time it ends the set for us with a smile on our faces. It's fun, it's romantic, and it's the type of band I always imagined being in.
Thank you all so much for listening over the years. We have two days left as a band and I've been reflecting a lot. While we might make the music, yall are the lifeblood and the energy that kept this ship afloat. Thank you. We'll miss you.
San Diego you beautiful beach bums we love you and can't wait to play our last hometown show at the first venue we ever played, The Casbah (we had to sit outside until our set cuz we were underage and weren't allowed in the bar).
THIS WILL SELL OUT so we recommend grabbing tickets asap if you're planning on coming.
SEE YA FRIDAY
This tour has been the most rewarding and fun tour we've ever been a part of. Thank you to everyone who has come out and talked to us and let us know how much music can mean. I think in the internet age of self promotion we as musicians can focus too much on numbers and we can forget why we do this in the first place - so thank you. We love you and we'll miss you.
Two hometown shows left - San Diego on Friday and the series finale in Los Angeles Saturday.
