This project put us out of our usual film comfort zone (that is not so comfortable already). We usually document real stories from real life. With this one we wrote a whole story in a certain frame. A post apocalyptic ski film project taking place in an imaginary world with no sun. Some human would pray on top of mountains to have the sun coming back. They would be trying to survive in a lightless world. We would reference both the old shaman stories of the Scandinavian country and also the hard feelings for northern people when sun is gone in the middle of the winter. The challenge was to write a plot that suits skiing but also our dream of fiction. Our goal is to push more stories, more dreaming, more art into the commercial outdoor space. This project was our first attempt at using fiction in ski films.
