Excited for this project in Geneva the Artwerk Biennale The third edition of the (re)connecting.earth Biennale (03) in Geneva, focused on „Sensitive Resources,“ opens with events on April 28–29, 2026. The exhibition runs until June 14, 2026, featuring over 50 works along the Voie Verte between Geneva and Annemasse, highlighting urban biodiversity and sustainability.
Am 19. März stellen Chiara Juriatti @ju.jrtt und Künstler Mathias Kessler @mathiashkessler ihre Publikation „The Year Without a Summer“ vor. Im Zentrum dabei steht die Luftverschmutzung durch menschgemachte Staubpartikel und deren Auswirkung auf die Farben unseres Himmels. In der Auseinandersetzung mit historischen Landschaftsmalereien und Klimamodellen wird das Thema aus kunsthistorischen, künstlerischen und naturwissenschaftlichen Perspektiven beleuchtet.
Bei der Buchpräsentation können Sie nicht nur einen Blick in das Buch werfen, sondern auch die Gemälde Kesslers live betrachten. Wir freuen uns auf euer Kommen.

Cadavre exquis zeichnen, Lieblingstiere-Krafttiere-Patronusse modellieren in Ton, Holzrahmen bauen, Gipsreliefs gießen, nachbearbeiten, Geschichten schreiben, Ausstellung vorbereiten, präsentieren.

On spotlight: Mathias Kessler
Exhibition: Resonanzräume auf und mit Papier
12 December - 12 February
Mathias Kessler engages with nature as a constructed image, questioning idealized visions of untouched landscape. In the series Light Phenomena, he translates skies from historical paintings into finely modulated color fields on paper. Detached from their original contexts, these fragments become autonomous spaces for light and contemplation.
Working across photography, film, and paper-based media, Mathias Kessler explores how images shape our understanding of the environment. Educated at the School of Visual Arts, New York, his work is held in collections including the Museum der Moderne Salzburg and Colección Cisneros and was presented at the Busan Biennale (2024).

We are delighted to share that Mathias Kessler in cooperation with Ahmet Civelek are participating in this year’s Busan Biennale @busanbiennale with the project Making Something out of Nothing.
The Biennale, renowned for its critical perspectives on global dynamics and cultural interconnections, provides the ideal framework for Kessler’s practice. Ecological discourse has been the central thread running through his entire artistic career, informing his research and shaping his artistic language across diverse media.
At the heart of Making Something out of Nothing lies a confrontation with Europe’s ongoing waste crisis and the unseen consequences of plastic exports. By transforming discarded material into art, the project enacts a poetic reversal: exported plastic returns not as waste, but as a cultural and ecological object — reintegrated into the global cycle as a museum artifact.
