The pavilion ROARED to life at Education Day during @makerfairemiami !
More than 700 students from 28 schools packed the Darwin E. Fuchs Pavilion for a full day of hands-on discovery, creativity, and maker magic.
Here’s just a taste of what these young innovators experienced:
- Paper airplane engineering with world-record holder @thepaperairplaneguy (John Collins)
- Meeting R2-D2 with the legendary @official501st
- Woodworking demos with @bigbillwoodworking
- Design thinking with @moonlightermiami
- 3D printing inspiration from @mateotechlab
With 40+ activities, endless exploration, and an afternoon full of discovery, the day proved something we already know:
When young minds meet makers, amazing things happen.
Make: Magazine’s own @gillianmutti was there capturing the energy, projects, and the incredible community that makes Maker Faire so special.

We're proud to announce 2026 Featured Maker, Mateo Jarquin (@mateotechlab )
Inspired by heroic stories, Mateo challenged himself to build an Iron Man gauntlet with his first 3D printer at 15. It wasn't just about the replica, but the skills he learned, that made him feel like a superhero. Now he's sharing his story, and his builds on YouTube to inspire other students to unlock their Maker Skills and gain some superpowers, too!
He will be presenting the talk, How to Build a Difference, on Saturday April 25th, and will have a booth showcasing some of his builds all weekend long at Maker Faire Miami. #DIY #Maker #3DPrinting #Inspiration #Storytelling #Skills #TeenHacker #Robotics #PassionProject #STEM
He went dark. So I brought him back!

I did not start as an engineer.
I started as a kid who refused to stop building.
These clips you see here are from moments where I had no idea what I was doing, but kept going anyway.
If you feel behind, confused, or not there yet, you are probably exactly where you are supposed to be.
Whether it’s through robotics, the arts, or music, my biggest piece of advice to get good at something, is to start a project that motivates you and learn as you go.

Keep building. Even when it feels messy.
