CDs BOUGHT AT A HIGH PRICE BUT CONTAINING RADIO EDITS? Enough is enough. Collectors deserve respect. 👇🏻
⚠️ A word of introduction: I’m referring to CDs with separate tracks where radio edits are included instead of the original, full-length songs. This is a widespread problem, not an isolated incident.
The point of a CD: Full-length songs and high quality
In a hardcore compilation, quality is non-negotiable. There are only two correct ways to make a CD: either the tracks are combined into a continuous flow (Mixed), or the songs must be in their original, full-length versions (Original Mix). Nobody wants to find versions cut and shortened for radio or streaming (Radio Edit) on a CD.
Anyone who buys a CD deserves respect, not an inferior product
A CD is not a gadget. It is a real object, a significant purchase and a collector’s item. Anyone who spends their money on a physical format has the right to receive the highest quality, not a cut-down product.
Today, however, we are witnessing an unacceptable contradiction:
- Digital music (purchased): Original and complete version.
- Physical CD and streaming (Spotify): Short radio version.
Those who pay more to have the disc at home get less than those who listen to music with a simple subscription. This shows no respect for fans.
The rules for a fair market
To be fair to those who support the scene, the rule should be very simple:
- Purchased CD: original and complete track.
- Purchased digital music: original and complete track.
- Streaming (subscription): short radio version.
It’s not difficult. All it takes is honesty towards the fans. In a world full of passing fads, we must defend CDs and vinyls, which are the sacred objects of our music.
The Community’s demands:
- Clarity: clearly state which versions are included on the CD before selling it.
- Quality: Music must not be cut or ruined.
- Value of the physical format: Respect those who spend money collecting records.
- Full versions: If the songs on the CD are separate tracks, they must ALWAYS be the original, full versions.

In this video you can see Bass-D & King Matthew (@djpaulelstak also featured in this vid) with a crowd fully locked into the energy of the night. This duo was also a great part of that era, helping shape the early Rotterdam hardcore sound, and also the @mastersofhardcore rave into something that would travel far beyond the underground.
These were the days!
-No smartphones.
-No posing.
-No people standing around.
-Everybody was dancing.
Just a packed Energiehal, strobe lights, heavy kicks and a crowd moving as one.

He was a true pioneer whose influence helped define the sound and direction of hardcore. His legacy continues to echo through today’s scene.
