MBAWA was honoured by a visit from US Consul General Colleen Altstock this week to Construction House.
AUKUS is a key focus for Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States - and WA is at the heart of the agreement as the home of the submarines.
Billions of dollars are being invested in Henderson and HMAS Stirling infrastructure and our members have a significant role to play.
With a strong pipeline of work ahead across sectors, it’s critical WA has the builders and workforce ready to deliver.
MBAWA is committed to supporting this nation-building endeavor.
One week ago today. ✨
The 2026 Women Building Australia Lunch brought together women from across WA’s building and construction industry to share stories, build connections and continue important conversations around leadership, resilience and creating pathways for the next generation.
The audience was uplifted by Jelena Dokic’s powerful speech on perseverance and overcoming adversity, before Protek Director Tarrsha Watkins and @lendlease Design Manager Abby Chittick reflected on leadership, balance and driving meaningful change across the industry.

Meet Lewis Italiano, MBAWA’s 2025 Apprentice of the Year.
Lewis began his building and construction career with handmade designer furniture maker @studiomiltonfurniture , undertaking a cabinet making apprenticeship.
He hasn’t looked back.
Driven by his passion for the industry, Lewis decided he wanted to learn more – so after completing his first apprenticeship, he jumped right back in and commenced as a carpentry and joinery apprentice with @oldcoastbuilding .
Lewis’ pathway shows what’s possible with the right training and support, and we’re excited to announce his successor as Apprentice of the Year on 19 June 2026.
The countdown is on. ⏰

23,830 new homes started in WA over the year to December 2025 is good news, but there’s more to the story.
WA is still tracking more than 4,000 homes short of its interim National Housing Accord target, just 18 months in – and workforce shortages, along with rising costs, continue to place builders under strain.
MBAWA is calling on the State Government to stay focused on supply-side solutions. We need to grow the building and construction workforce, cut red tape, and ensure the industry is given priority status in the future if geopolitical tensions flare.
Guess who’s back… and this time with a few goodies from Jersey Road 🤍
We were so lucky stumbling across Mike & Richard at @aspirehomesandrenovations back in 2021 - and we couldn’t think of anyone better to do it all over again with.
Round two… let’s go 👊🏼
But this time, with a little help from Chris @whiteonwhite_design
