⚠️ TW: Sexual violence/assault, state violence, incarceration ⚠️ Today we remember the Nakba and the generations of violence, displacement, and loss Palestinian people have been forced to live through for the last 78 years. For decades, Palestinian people have fought for the right to exist, to return home, and to live freely on their own land while the world witnesses a genocide unfold in real time. As Black people living under systems rooted in policing, imprisonment, displacement, and state violence, we recognize these tactics. We know that colonial violence does not stop at borders. And over the last year, we’ve watched that violence escalate in horrifying ways. In March, Israel moved forward legislation prescribing the death penalty for Palestinians only, continuing its apartheid regime and genocidal campaign against a people fighting for their freedom. For Palestinian people in settler prisons and detention camps, reports of torture, sexual violence, and extreme abuse continue to be met with indifference and impunity. Earlier this year, charges against soldiers accused of brutally sexually assaulting Palestinian detainees were dropped, while supporters of that violence marched in the streets defending the “right to r*pe” Palestinian prisoners. This is only one of the many horrors Palestinian people have been forced to endure in yet another year of the ongoing Nakba. We will never accept violence against incarcerated people. We will never tolerate entire families being erased, children growing up surrounded by war and displacement, or people being treated as disposable for the sake of power, occupation, and control. Palestinian people are entitled to safety. Palestinian people are entitled to dignity. Palestinian people are entitled to liberation. So today and every day, we show up in solidarity with the people of Palestine and their resistance. We continue to learn, organize, speak out, and fight for a free Palestine because none of us are free until Palestine is free. Free Palestine 🇵🇸 #NakbaDay

For the last two weeks, we’ve been showing up in court every single day for a community member whose life is quite literally on the line. He’s also been sitting in jail awaiting trial for the last 5 years. Five years stolen from his life before even getting the chance to fully defend himself in court. Court watching is more than just sitting in a courtroom. It’s all about community presence. It’s reminding judges, juries, prosecutors, and the system itself that people are loved, supported, and not disposable. A packed courtroom matters. It changes the energy in the room. It reminds our people that they are not facing this systemic violence alone. Over these last couple of weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to support not only a member of our community, but also his mother as she’s carried the weight of this trial every single day. No family should have to navigate this alone. Today, we witnessed the state deliver a violent blow to this family after they fought long and hard for their loved one. But we’re not done. Next, we’ll continue showing up by writing letters, attending sentencing hearings, and showing up in solidarity with this family every step of the way. Every time we enter these courtrooms, we slow the machine down and force it to reckon with its own violence. This work is emotional and heavy, but it is 100% necessary. We truly believe our people deserve to live our lives outside of cages and outside of systems that continuously try to disappear us. If you’ve ever wondered why we push court watch so hard, this is why. If you yourself have been wanting to get involved in this work, you can. Swipe to the last slide and check out what our our volunteer sign-up looks like. Then head to the link in our bio to fill it out! Or go to: bit.ly/mlazcourtwatch We’ll reach out to get you plugged into volunteering with Mass Liberation Arizona. ✊🏾🖤 #WeDoThisTilWeFreeUs #WeKeepUsSafe

“A crime is not a perspective.” Reposts from @arabsofliberation Oppression does not fear debate because debate, in the wrong setting, protects it. It pulls it out of the realm of the unacceptable and places it into the marketplace of ideas. It grants it a seat, a microphone, a tone of reason. It allows it to exist not as a structure to be dismantled, but as a position to be argued. And that is normalization. Normalization is not just agreement. It is familiarity without consequence. It is the repetition of an unjust position until it feels ordinary. Until hearing it no longer shocks. Until responding to it becomes routine. A colonizer does not need you to concede. He needs you to engage. Because engagement signals that there is something to discuss. That there is room for interpretation. That the crime has not yet been settled in the moral consciousness of the audience. You don’t invite a criminal to debate his crime. A crime is not a perspective. This is normalization. Full stop.

We’ll say it again: As abolitionists, we recognize the brutal apartheid regime of Israel and its US-backed occupation of Palestine for what it is: a prison that must be abolished. #Repost @palestinianyouthmovement with @use.repost ・・・ Today, on Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, the PYM celebrates the revolutionary spirit of our prisoners. As we hear the stories of community members whose lives have been directly impacted by zionist prisons, we honor each and every one of our prisoners and recognize them to be the compass of our struggle. Despite the zionist regimes’ repressive tactics to lock up and torture our people as a method of quelling and silencing our movement, our prisoners remain the compass of our struggle. Behind prison walls, our prisoners guide our movement to liberation—transforming their prison cells into bases of education, schools of revolution, and political arenas. We commemorate our prisoners as they ignite our movement within the walls that confine them and affirm our commitment in demanding the release of every single prisoner subjected to incarceration for their dedication to the liberation of our homeland. Thank you to Yasmine El Mezain, Rula Abu Duho, Nida Abu Baker, and Tala for taking a moment to share the stories and experiences of imprisonment that they and their families have directly faced. May we all take inspiration from our prisoners and remain steadfast in our commitment to liberation. From Dallas to Gaza, all the chains must be broken.

Call to Action!! Pack the court!! On July 12th 2019, Jamaar Williams was targeted and arrested at a protest against ICE. Phoenix police officer Darrell Magee falsely claimed he assaulted him, even though video evidence and witness accounts showed otherwise. Jamaar spent three days in jail and faced with felony resisting arrest that could have cost him his career with the Maricopa County Public Defenders Office and his ability to practice Law anywhere else. Weeks later, after you all helped us pack the court, the judge found no probable cause and dismissed the charges. Now, seven years later, Jamaar is finally getting his day in court. The court process began April 6th and opened to the public today but we’ll be back at it Thursday at 8:45 am (probably best to aim for 8:30 though, remember that this is federal court and the expectations of the public are a little more formal).

Everything connects to Palestine. #iran #israel #straitofhormuz #masterplan Repost @raytrospectively • It’s actually wild how much of this stuff they just say to our face because they think most people won’t pay attention or will forget about it. Check out @theconsciouscitizens for the resource list and more guides/resources about community organizing! Highly recommend @boycatapp to help you boycott. And of course, check out the work of @bds.movement

50 years of Land Day. Same fight, just 50 years later. #FromTheRiverToTheSea #LandDay 🇵🇸 #Repost @theimeu ・・・ It’s the 48th Land Day in Palestine, commemorating the united uprising of Palestinians across their homeland in 1976 to oppose Israel’s ongoing campaign of land theft and military rule. That day, Palestinians demonstrated their unified national spirit and inalienable connection to their land, and proved to Israel that its violent occupation and colonial borders would never divide them. That spirit and connection are just as strong today as they were 48 years ago: Palestinians are steadfastly withstanding and resisting Israel’s genocidal bombing and forced starvation in Gaza and its brutal apartheid regime across Palestine. Palestinians have been fighting for their freedom for decades – and they deserve it, like all of us. Beyond an immediate and permanent end to this genocide, Palestinians need their full rights and an end to Israel’s brutal siege and occupation. They shouldn’t have to wait another day.

The bill has passed. Reposts @abubakerabedw @btselem Israel enforces a comprehensive policy of killing and oppression against the Palestinian people in all the territories it controls. The Death Penalty Law gives Israel’s apartheid regime yet another tool for advancing that policy.

💥❤️‍🔥 A BURST OF HOPE: Amidst Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, the intensification of the US-Israeli war against Iran and Lebanon, and escalating domestic repression of attempts to protest the above, several recent legal victories are offering hope for the Palestine movement in the US. Swipe left to read Palestine Legal’s roundup of recent US legal wins — and news articles featuring analysis of these wins from Palestine Legal attorneys! In the last few weeks, many US courts have been rightfully ruling in favor of pro-Palestinian protesters, often affirming that they are exercising their First Amendment-protected rights to speak out and take action against Israel’s genocide. In these cases, courts have been ruling against Israel lobby groups, ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, and universities under pressure by the Trump administration to punish student protesters and suppress dissent. These legal victories are crucial not just for the individual protesters — who now are free from ICE detention, or can return to campus after their expulsions or suspensions were dismissed — but also for the Palestine movement at large. In many instances, courts’ decisions are creating legal precedents that could help prevent future attempts at legal repression, like Israel lobby groups’ misuse of civil rights lawsuits to silence criticism of Israel and Zionism. Though many legal fights are ongoing, we hope that these wins bolster our movement’s morale as students, workers, and everyday people of conscience continue to protest Israel’s genocide and pressure complicit institutions to divest from it. Stay strong, and remember that we have your back!
