3 years ago, a passenger on her way home from work in a BRT bus was texting her family on WhatsApp. She had noticed uncomfortable signs in the bus and was trying to raise an alarm, until she was unable to text anymore. 9 days later, her body was found. She had been abducted, r#%* and murdered by the BRT driver.
There are countless people daily who go through ordeals, and are unable to reach people who care about them as quickly and with as accurate information as possible. I am almost certain you or someone you know has a similar story.
I have personally had similar experiences, at least twice in the last 5 years (I shared one of the on my highlights)
This is what my team and I have spent the best part of the last 18 months solving.
TriggerApp is not just another app, or another startup.
This is a solution made by passionate Nigerians coming together to solve a problem we are all susceptible to. If it isnât you, itâs someone you care about.
With TriggerApp, all you need is a few moments to reach out, to everyone who care about you, at the same time.
One tap, they are all alerted, and your live location and audio is shared and recorded to everyone simultaneously.
You give them context, information, and evidence all in one place!
Be a part of this, get and set up TriggerApp for yourself and your loved ones. Download TriggerApp! from your app stores or use the links on my bio.
Using TriggerApp (a personal and community safety app) is a smart way to add an extra layer of security and coordination to your girlsâ night out. You can use it to make sure the focus stays on having fun while keeping everyone safe.
Here are 3 ways to use it this weekend:
First things first, Download TriggerApp! with your friends on your App Store!
1. Create a âGirls Night Outâ Circle
Before you head out, set up a specific Circle within the app just for the girls attending.
⢠Why it helps: Instead of alerting your entire contact list (like parents or coworkers) if something minor happens, you can set this circle as your Default Receivers.
⢠The Benefit: If the group gets split up at a crowded venue, you can alert everyone in that moment.
2. Use the âPanic Buttonâ as a âCheck-Inâ Tool
While the Panic Button is designed for emergencies, it can be your groupâs ultimate âsafety net.â
⢠The Strategy: Agree as a group that if anyone feels uncomfortable (e.g., someone is being too pushy at the bar or youâve lost the group), they can tap the button.
⢠The Benefit: Because the app simultaneously broadcasts live location and audio, your friends wonât just see where you areâtheyâll hear whatâs happening. This gives them the context they need to walk over and ârescueâ you from an awkward situation without you having to type out a long text.
3. Location Based Updates
Use the TriggerAppâs Community Timeline to post updates as you move between locations.
If you notice anything untoward on your way home, can be unimaginable traffic, an overcrowded venue, an accident, or a route your friends should rather not take, all you have to do is post it while youâre there and your friends see that information mapped at the exact location.
