Reminiscing about our two day residency we had back at George Mason University on February 16th-17th. We had a wonderful time working with the percussion studio, composition studio, music technology program, and band program, inviting the whole school of music to the various workshops/masterclasses we were able to do. A huge thanks to Andrea Reinkemeyer, Robert Gillam, Jonathan Bisesi, John Spirtas, and William Lake for having us out to George Mason ❤️ We loved working with your students and hope to come back again in the near future! And a special shoutout to our sponsors Sabian Cymbals, Pearl Drums, Adams Percussion, and Vic Firth for supporting our work as always 👏👏👏 #percussion #piano #trio #residency #newmusic @musicatmason @muzicldma @alre1nke @rgillam77 @kanako9036 @musicatmason @masoncomposition @mason.percussion @felixmreyes @marcelinadrums @willhealymusic @sabiancymbals @pearladamspercussion @vicfirth

🎶✨ WORLD PREMIERE | “…and the pursuit” ✨🎶 What does it sound like when history becomes motion… when ideals become action… when a legacy continues to unfold in real time? We are honored to share the Mason Wind Symphony’s world premiere performance of “…and the pursuit” by Dr. Andrea Reinkemeyer, Mason’s Director of Composition, a powerful new work commissioned in celebration of the 55th Anniversary of the George Mason University Band Program. 🔗 Learn more about the composer: Inspired by the profound connection between the Virginia Declaration of Rights (1776) and the United States Declaration of Independence, this composition traces the journey from regional conviction to national proclamation. The philosophical ideals of inherent rights and government in service to the people—first articulated in Virginia—ignite a musical narrative that is both historic and deeply human. From its opening moments, you feel the weight of history—a sense of gravity and purpose rooted in our founding ideals. As the work unfolds, momentum builds… ideas evolve… and sound transforms into action. Through expansion, fragmentation, and reassembly, the music mirrors the very process by which revolutionary thought became a declaration that would shape a nation. But “…and the pursuit” is more than reflection—it is forward motion. It is the pursuit of liberty. The pursuit of purpose. The pursuit of community. For 55 years, the Mason Band Program has embodied these ideals—shaping generations of artists, educators, and leaders who carry this mission forward through artistry, scholarship, and service. This performance stands as both a tribute to where we have been… and a celebration of where we are going. 💚🎶 …and still, we pursue. 🎶💚
