so it’s definitely the end of something. i planned three years ago to release two (eventually three) records, to clear the backlog of music i’d made over years and years, and especially to leave something behind, with some uncertainty about how music might fit into the long term - i wanted to have time for other things. i didn’t realize, having completed this project three years later, that that uncertainty would be reflected in music world writ-large, with algorithm culture and AI parasitism inciting a lot of soul searching about how artists fit into our wider vision of the future. i’d say i feel like the dog that caught the car, except the car is a horse carriage, and a brand-new model T that no one asked for is driving off into the distance.
what to do? for me - two things: prioritizing collaboration and IRL. to these ends: i have a fun little release coming soon with a cool group of people who run great parties. on the second point: i think playing instruments is going to take precedence over ableton.
in the meantime, you’re very, very welcome to stream my little album trilogy, especially the latest record. i got a headstart on the collaboration initiative too, since it includes the first feature in my discography (s/o @chopstixmami ).
