هذا الڤيديو هو شرح صناعة وتصميم القطعة من بداية البحث إلى التنفيذ

The Electronic Manjur, an interactive musical art piece. The piece is activated by sound and motion creating a rattle sound making it essentially an artistic instrument. The piece was made usin acrylic, metal, fishing line, and an electronic system with sensors.
This is a video that explains the whole creative process from research all the way to execution.

Munirah AlShami is a multimedia artist and creative scientist whose practice blends traditional craft with emerging technologies, working at the intersection of cultural heritage, sustainability, and innovation. Ghizlan is a progressive reinterpretation and reimagining of the divider wall found in traditional Bedouin tents, where Sadu weaving originated. The tent wall, a source of privacy, a woven artwork, and a filter for light, is presented as a contemporary expression of traditional Sadu weaving.

“فن السدو يمتلك أصولًا خوارزمية وبُنية رياضية واضحة، ما يجعله قابلًا للتحويل إلى صيغة رقمية بسهولة.” بهذه الكلمات توضح الفنانة الكويتية منيرة الشامي رؤيتها الفريدة لدمج التراث بالسياق المعاصر، حيث قدمت السدو الكويتي في صيغة رقمية مبتكرة ضمن احتفال السفارة الكويتية في واشنطن. في مشروعها الأخير، استطاعت أن تجسّد الهوية الخليجية كوسيط بصري حيّ يتواصل مع الأجيال الجديدة ويُظهر أصالة الحرفة بروح حديثة. لقراءة المقال بالكامل، إضغطي عبر اللينك في البايو.
Sadu carries algorithmic origins and a clear mathematical structure, making it naturally adaptable to a digital form, says Kuwaiti artist Munirah AlShami. Presented during a celebration at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington, her work reimagines traditional Kuwaiti sadu through an innovative digital lens.

“غزلان” - من سلسلة “بنات ابجاد”
من ضمن اهل البادية كانت المرأة هي المهندسة المعمارية والفنانة الأولى. كانت تنسج الجدران والسجاد والمقاعد والوسائد وحتى النوافذ. كانت تتحكم بكمية الضوء التي تمر عبر الخيمة.
هذه إعادة تصميم لجدار خيمة بدوية حيث تُتحكم كمية الضوء المار من خلال مدى طي أغطية النوافذ. هذه القطعة مصنوعة بالكامل من أقمشة مُعاد تدويرها التزامًا بمبدأ الاستدامة. يُمثل الضوء بمحاكاة LED.
يُحافظ التصميم على مبادئ السدو، حيث يُعد الشريط الأوسط العنصر الأبرز، بينما يتسم الشريطين الجانبيين بالتناظر. يتبع اتجاه الأضواء (خطوط أفقية متراصة) تصميم أحد الزخارف السبعة الرئيسية - “الضلعة”.تم نسج القبعة يدوياً باستخدام طريقة النسيج التقليدية “الرقم”.
معروضة حاليًا في معهد الشرق الأوسط كجزء من معرض “Beyond The Weave” الفني تحت رعاية بيت السدو الكويتي.

“Ghizlan” - In any Bedouin tribe, the woman was the first architect and artist. She wove the walls, the rugs, the seats, the pillows, and the even the windows. She controlled how much light travels through the tent.
This is a reinterpretation of a Bedouin tent wall, where the amount of light that passes through is controlled by how far down one rolls the window covers. This piece is made entirely out of recycled fabrics, staying true to the principle of sustainability. The light is represented by an LED simulation.
The composition stays true to the Sadu design principles where the middle strip is the prominent element while the two strips on the side are symmetrical in nature. The orientation of the lights (packed horizontal lines) follow the design of one of the seven main motifs - “Dhil’aa” (ribs). The installation was woven by hand using the traditional “Ragom” weaving method.
It currently resides in The Middle East Institute as part of “Beyond The Weave”, an exhibition curated by Sadu House Society from Kuwait.
