Last year I had the privilege to compose the score for Simona Volpe’s short film FORUM. Her research resulted in a movie which brings together a series of testimonies from foreign women forced into prostitution, navigating life under precarious conditions within shared single-room apartments they seldom leave, in the Zurich neighborhoods. They are unaware of the channels through which they are marketed, the prices set for them, or even the practices they are expected to perform. Through forums on the internet, clients trade their experiences amongst eachother in a harsh and callous tone that reveals, and almost normalizes, disturbingly inhumane attitudes. The movie was selected for the short film competition at the 41st Warsaw International Film Festival last year, where it also had its world premiere.
