🍕 Your voice belongs at the table, especially when pizza is involved!
District K neighbors, I’d love to see you at Pizza & Partnerships for a fun, relaxed evening of conversation, connection, and community-building.
This is your chance to meet fellow residents, civic leaders, and share ideas about the future of District K.
Because the strongest communities are built when neighbors know each other and show up for one another.

Good Friday reminds us that even in our hardest seasons, something greater can be unfolding.
I love this quote even more today.
“You can never break a woman who finds beauty in everything…”
What looks like the end… isn’t. Sunday is Coming! 🕊️
Thank you, New Edition , for giving us music that doesn’t age!
It was my absolute honor to stand in the city I love and present a proclamation to celebrate a group that made nostalgia feel brand new again. Generation X was in the house and yes, original Candy Girl energy still intact! 🎶.
Houston, we officially made it clear:
April 4th will always belong to New Edition❤️

Happy Sunday!
Some places still preach, even in silence.
I passed this abandoned church for years when I lived in San Marcos, however on a recent visit, seeing this message which is now painted across the Historic First Baptist Church, I was reminded that history still speaks.
Founded by freedmen in 1866, this was the first African American congregation in San Marcos. And in 1873, the original church was burned by the Ku Klux Klan; a painful reminder of the hatred Black communities endured simply for gathering, worshipping, and building their own institutions.
But the story did not end there.
In 1908, the congregation rebuilt this church in a powerful testament to faith, resilience, and a people determined to rise and keep going.
Today, this sacred space, next to the Cephas House in the historic Dunbar neighborhood, still carries a message that feels just as urgent now as it did then:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
What a simple message.
What a sacred reminder.
And maybe, in this season, one of the most powerful calls we can answer.
In a world that often feels divided, this old church stands as a witness to pain, to perseverance, to community, and to the enduring power of love.
San Marcos will always hold a special place in my heart, and this moment did too. #HistoricFirstBaptistChurch #DunbarNeighborhood #LoveYourNeighbor #BlackHistory #Matthew22:39
There is one less abandoned building creating nuisance in our community.
Today the Civic Club leaders and residents in Mayfair park joined Mayor Whitmire and me for a much needed demolition at 5634 Maywood Drive in Fort Bend, Houston. This house has been abandoned for at least 10 years and the neighbors were happy to see it come down.
Thank you to the Houston Contractors Association for their partnership along with Houston Public Works, Department of Neighborhoods and everyone who worked to get to this day.
The work continues and together, we’ll keep making District K better.

Yesterday went CRAZY and we need you to see this 🔥
Coffee & Conversations in the morning had the whole room locked in, real talk, real strategies, real opportunities on the table. Then the Grand Ballroom at Hilton Americas opened up and everything shifted.
Damola Adamolekun. CEO of Red Lobster. On OUR stage.
Watching someone who rebuilt a billion dollar brand speak directly to YOU in a room this intimate was something else. That kind of access doesn’t happen everywhere.
It happened right here at Texas Expo. In Houston.
And the awards. The energy. The standing ovations. The hallway conversations after that nobody wanted to end.
The people in that ballroom yesterday left with a completely different mindset. Facts.

Some moments are bigger than sports.
Today I was honored to join the press conference celebrating the return of the Houston Comets; a team that helped define women’s professional basketball and cement Houston’s place in sports history.
The Comets were the WNBA’s first dynasty, winning four consecutive championships and inspiring generations through excellence, grit, and leadership.
As someone who played basketball from 6th grade through college, this moment felt especially meaningful.
It’s about the little girls picking up basketballs today who will now grow up seeing themselves reflected in greatness.
Women’s sports continue to reach new heights, from record-breaking viewership to million-dollar contracts that reflect long-overdue investment in elite talent. The return of the Comets is another powerful signal that the future is bright.
Houston helped shape the history of women’s basketball. I’m excited to see our city help shape its next chapter.
Welcome back, Houston Comets. The dynasty returns.

Progress you can see!
Today I went out to inspect what I expect on Ludington and I’m excited to see the panel replacements moving forward along with new ADA ramps being installed on the sidewalks.
This is what neighborhood investment looks like in real time. Safer streets. Better accessibility. Improved mobility for residents, seniors, parents with strollers, and neighbors using wheelchairs or walkers.
Sometimes progress doesn’t come with fireworks… sometimes it comes one concrete panel, one curb ramp, and one improved block at a time. And it matters.
District K, we’re going to keep pushing forward block by block.

There is something tender about realizing the little boy who once needed your hand has grown into a man who now walks beside you.
Being JP’s mother has been the greatest joy of my life. I have loved every season from the little boy with big dreams, the young man finding his way, and now the man I am so proud to know.
Motherhood changes as our children grow. You do not stop being their mother, but you learn to love them with more trust, more prayer, and a deeper appreciation for who they have become.
This Mother’s Day, my heart is full. I will always cherish being a boy mom, but what a beautiful blessing it is to now be the mother of a man. 💙
My mother has always been one of my greatest examples of love, strength, and leadership.
Her leadership did not come with a title or a spotlight. It came through the way she cared for our family, the way she prayed for us, the way she showed up, and the way she taught us to treat people with kindness, dignity, and respect.
She led with love long before I understood that love itself is a form of leadership. She taught me that service matters, that your word should mean something, and that faith can steady you through every season of life.
So much of who I am, as a woman, a mother, and a public servant, is rooted in what I learned from her. Her grace, wisdom, and quiet strength continue to guide me.
Today, I salute my mother with a grateful heart. Thank you, Mom, for loving us well, leading us faithfully, and showing us what it means to live a life grounded in purpose. You are loved, honored, and deeply appreciated.
Happy Mother’s Day!💕
Today was one of those sweet little moments I’ll hold onto. I took my parents to Café du Monde, and it was Daddy’s first time experiencing the beignets and chicory coffee.
There’s just something special about New Orleans; the history, the flavor, the joy, and the way a simple table with powdered sugar everywhere can turn into a beautiful family memory.
Grateful for days like this. 🤍☕️✨
