“Does anyone still have a single job title,” asks HTSI’s @jellison22 in this week’s editor’s letter. “Doing one job is so passé.” For our new issue, we look at the diverse talents who embody this multi-hyphenate status, including our cover star Marte Mei van Haaster (@martemei ). @amancalledmark speaks to the 33-year-old model-turned-sustainable designer at home in Amsterdam ahead of her upcoming Antwerp exhibition. Meanwhile @rosiemayseed steps into the kingdom of @troyesivan , meeting the Australian singer and social media-sensation and his sister, @sageybabey , as they launch a new fragrance. Plus – @giselaatlarge heads to designer @billbensley ’s colourful Chiang Mai home; the How Long Gone podcast co-host and Hanover founder Chris Black (@donetodeathprojects ) talks taste; @aleks_cvetkovic visits menswear boutique Anatomica Paris; @alicelascelles enjoys an audience with Kate Moss’s favourite mixologist; landscape designer Catherine FitzGerald shows us how to spend it in Laois; and much more. Pick up your copy this Saturday and Sunday with the @ft_weekend . 📸: @amelieambroise . . . . . #HTSI #MarteMei #BillBensley #TroyeSivan

Save the Date - Solo Show, Marte Mei @stvincents Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition Mending Lands by Amsterdam-based designer Marte Mei van Haaster, opening on 14 May 2026 in Antwerp. The exhibition marks the debut of a new body of work developed through an extended research residency at @nesse_terneuzen in Zeeland, a region profoundly affected by PFAS contamination. The project explores phytoremediation: hemp plants grown on contaminated land absorb PFAS from the soil, cleaning it in the process. — Marte Mei Solo Show 14.05 — 26.06.2026 Private viewing > 14th, 6 — 9PM (invite or RSVP only) Public > 15th ST VINCENTS Kleine Markt 13, 2000 Antwerp — BE By appointment or by chance (ring the bell) 24/7 at www.stvincents.co For a preview or inquiries: [email protected] Press inquiries: Meara [email protected] Project made possible with the support of @stimuleringsfonds @nesse_terneuzen @stichtingstokroos @cultuurfonds Partners in this project Phytoremediation -CBiotech Biomaterial production @beologic_com Film @frenkie.media Woodwork @ancodej Dp @qwertygeenazerty Composer @samovano #STVINCENTS_gallery #STVINCENTS_antwerp

Trailer - PFASLANDS A Film I made during the year-long process of developing a biomaterial from phytoremediation hemp, to remediate PFAS-polluted soil. It's a visual essay, following the social, ecological, and political pressures surrounding PFAS in Zeeland, the birthplace of this project at @nesse_terneuzen I noticed a lot of questions regarding the safety and afterlife of the material. This film follows the testing, conversations and explanations regarding the safety of the material and its production. PFASLANDS will be part of my solo exhibition: Mending Lands at St. Vincents. @stvincents in Antwerp (Kleine Markt 13). Opening 14 May, Invite only Opening publicly on 15 May, until 26 June The production of this film was made possible with the support of: - @stichtingstokroos - @cultuurfonds The production of this project was made possible with the support of: - @stimuleringsfonds - @nesse_terneuzen Film credits: Production @frenkie.media Director @martemei @marte_mei_makes DP @qwertygeenazerty Composer @samovano Edit @amandavanhesteren Sound Thijs Felperlaan Grading @qiiiiiiianweiiiiiii Graphic design @enno.poetschke I would like to express special thanks to: @adriennevdw Anne van der Ven @mo1lywhitehead @ancodej @murph.ie at @healthymaterialslab Ingmar en Nour, C-Biotech Jens, @beologic_com Sophie, at UHasselt

On View — Companion Species, Marte Mei Beech and pine strengthen one another when planted side by side. It’s one of the many arguments against monoculture forestry, and a starting point for Marte Mei’s Companion Species. Her practice approaches design through the lens of environmental repair. It begins not with form, but with damaged and imbalanced landscapes. The collection originated at Schloss Hollenegg in Austria, where climate change is accelerating the spread of pests through monoculture forests. Companion Species responds with a construction system built around the variety of a healthy forest—working with wood of different species, shapes, and sizes rather than forcing it into predefined design specifications. The structure rests on ceramic feet, with wooden elements spanning between them. Each ceramic component remains exposed, glazed with ash from the same tree species used in the woodwork. Tonal variations register the mineral composition of the soil in which each tree grew, embedding traces of the landscape directly into the surface. This forms part of Mei’s Land-Allyship methodology: a way of designing that positions humans as collaborators within ecological systems rather than extractors. Presented here across three scales: shelving, a coffee table, and a large desk. Companion Species will be shown alongside new commissions for Marte Mei’s upcoming solo exhibition at ST VINCENTS. For the past year, I've been developing a biomaterial from hemp that was part of a PFAS-remediation process. The hemp plants absorbed PFAS from contaminated soil, and I used it to try to create a safe-to-use material. Here is a little peek into the process. Come and see the result of the experimentation, a new body of work, and the accompanying film at my solo "Mending Lands" at @stvincents This project has been supported by @stimuleringsfonds and @nesse_terneuzen Partners: C-Biotech - Phytoremediation Beologic - Biomaterial experimentation UHasselt + Eurofins - Material testing Healthy Materials Lab - Material testing Advice
