“The sea is where I go when I want to be free of time and to remind myself that boundaries are constructs, that many are moveable and changeable, either by time, by action or by thought. It also tells me that everything I see and feel can become sound, and if I need it to exist, or I need to hear it, then it can, that is enough. This collection is dedicated to a lost friend, who I was supposed to meet at Dunwich Beach, but it was too late. It is also for the living, an expression of my love and inspiration, for the joy and magic that can be found even under the darkest rock. So much of my music is outwardly wordless, but these unwritten songs are alive beneath the waves.”

The New Look Marshlore Issue 6 has arrived. I’m really proud of this edition, it digs deeper into historical stories, personal and folkloric. I’m also really pleased to have an essay by the incredible folklorist Jennifer Westwood in this issue. (Printed by kind permission of the estate of JW). Jen was a really crucial influence on my love of folklore, and research. Many people will know her as one of the writers of the Penguin published book ‘Lore of the Land’.
I worked for her as a research assistant on that, in my twenties, chasing texts and ‘magicking them onto CD’ in her words.
