I am thrilled that Connecticut Sea Grant (CTSG) at University of Connecticut (UCONN) Avery Point campus has acquired three pieces of my artwork, part of a larger group of works I completed for my 2022 Arts Support Award titled, “Bloom: A Flourish in Long Island Sound.” Thank you to CTSG Research Coordinator Dr. Syma Ebbin for your care and stewardship of these pieces and for helping to sustain the message of healthy waterways in our coastal environment. It was an absolute blast to create this artwork by studying microscopic algae and bringing them to life through fiber, with support from CTSG, and I’m honored that this work will live on by being viewed by students, staff and visitors. I highly recommend the Connecticut Sea Grant Artists Support Award to any artist whose work ties in with coastal and marine environments. (There is currently a call for art through the award, deadline May 20, you can find out more at):

I’m crocheting stars to include in my outdoor installation for @essexhistoricalsociety .
Installing at the end of the month - still working on all the pieces!

I’m adding a little decorative touch to the Pratt House sign as part of my June-July installation, but first things first - I need a few measurements to make sure everything fits.

Thank you to the Art Selection Committee at Essex Historical Society in Essex, Connecticut. I am pleased to be a featured artist for Art on the Lawn at Pratt House during the months of June and July, with a Meet the Artist event on Saturday, June 6th from 2 to 3 p.m. I’m designing and creating a special yarn bomb-style outdoor installation that is festive, yarny, and in red, white and blue colors to capture the excitement of America at 250. The work is currently in progress and I can’t wait to see it all come together! Here are a few sneak peeks:

YAAAAAAY! I am literally jumping up and down right now, so happy to have completed the 2026 Earth Month Repurposed Art Challenge! Thank you, Natalya @artbynatalya for dreaming up such a fun challenge and clever prompts. It’s been a blast!
Day 30 - Dandelion. I made my quickie version with nasty plastic bubble wrap and wire.

Day 29 and I can hardly BELIEVE it! One more day to go of the Earth Month Repurposed Art Challenge!
Today’s prompt - Geranium. Do geraniums come in purple? I think they do but not in a shade as deep as the ones I made.

Day 25 of Earth Month Repurposed Art Challenge. Today’s prompt - Zinnia. My interpretation is made with bits of mesh plastic onion bags and wire. I love how the shadows fall on the tulip leaf in the photo of my orange zinnia. Also I couldn’t resist including my real backyard yellow tulips. They are so pretty this year!

Day 27 - Earth Month Repurposed Art Challenge
Today’s prompt - Columbine
Made with a yellow plastic bag, green string and a piece of wire

Day 26 of the Repurposed Art Earth Month Challenge.
The flower is Dayweed. I used the plastic wrapper from package of paper towels.
Only 4 more days to go!

Day 25 - Earth Month Repurposed Art Challenge. Today’s prompt - Red Clover. Made with plastic daily contact lens containers, plastic bag, scrap fabric, the label from a Vitamin Water, bugle beads, needle, and thread.

Day 24 of Earth Month Repurposed Art Challenge! Today’s prompt - Bear’s Breeches. Otherwise known as Acanthus Mollis. Fun fact - Virgil described Helen of Troy as wearing a dress embroidered with Acanthus leaves.
Made with discarded fabric, beads and wire.

Day 23 of Earth Month Repurposed Art Challenge, making a flower each day with discarded materials.
Today’s prompt - Hydrangea
Materials - tissue box plastic wrapper, plastic egg cartons and a very, very tiny amount of creativity (I’m afraid I’m running out ingenuity).
