Product and Beauty Photographer | Cape Town | Marnus Meyer 🍉

Last year I shot this for nuah. It was one of my favorite shoots of the year with one of the most wonderful client teams I’ve worked with in a long time. I was hired to do the full creative, concept and production of the shoot, and although it’s daunting when you don’t have enough time to let your mind wander, this time I was able to. The concept I went with for the creative shots was to create little moments in environments where you’d actually consume these products. A nougat in your desk drawer as a snack while working late for that extra energy, a mug muffin at your desk while you write, a post gym nougat, pancakes and cake for a breakfast or celebratory moment. Each product in its environment. We started with the ecom product shots and got those out of the way, then moved on to styled stills of each product, and ended with the creative shots in their various environments. It was an ambitious shot list but our client was wonderful and just wanted great pictures, so we prioritized what was important first and ticked things off as we went, ending up finishing all our planned shots. It was a great day. The nuah team kept us fed and energized. Our client brought all the laughter and sunshine to set and made everyone giggle and have fun. All in all a wonderful day with a wonderful team and talented creatives. I’m lucky to have a solid team around me, and it’s always wonderful when assistants, stylists and client are all sharing the same mind on a shoot day. This was one of my first shoots for Phytoceutics and already one of those days I won't forget. One product, shot every way we could think of - angles, variations, with models, on its own, the works. Small crew but everyone knew what they were doing. I prepped my lighting diagrams and shoot plan before the day because when you have a lot of shots to get through and move so fast, having a plan to fall back on is the thing that keeps you grounded. Rearranged the studio space in the morning so that our working space flowed nicely, started with all the product shots first then moved onto model shots with a setup that let me switch between looks quickly. Got a lot of laughing and energy out of the models which gave us some amazing frames. I could have balanced it with a few more quiet moments but honestly looking at everything together it just sits really nicely. Couldn't have done it without an amazing team. Brand @phytoceutics_za
