!!Debut album release on 17 January!! 🤩 🎉 We’re incredibly happy and excited that our first disc is finally coming out! Recording Ligeti’s two string quartets alongside Bartók’s fourth one was one of the most challenging and rewarding things we’ve done, and we hope you’ll enjoy the result! We couldn’t be happier with the wonderful team at BIS records who’ve welcomed us into their family through wonderfully intense and inspiring recording sessions. Special thanks to the Banff International String Quartet Competition for their support of this disc! Amazing landscape photographer Joe Cornish took this album cover of us at a location we chose for its stark juxtaposition of old and new as well as natural and man made; the Abbot’s Cliff sound mirror in Kent, on the south coast of England. The conflict between the natural landscape and the monolithic concrete slab reverberates with similar energies as the music on the disc; these are pieces that frame some of the most brutally pivotal decades in European history. Stay tuned for more updates and little promos which we will drop during the next couple of months. We’re incredibly grateful to have received the BBC Music Magazine Chamber Award 2026!! Thanks to the panel for the nomination, and a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us!!! 😍 We’re really proud of the debut CD we made - Ligeti and Bartók made some epic music but recording them is certainly not the most chilled experience. Halfway through the recording patch our producer started talking about adding another day later in the year in case we didn’t finish, but the four of us could absolutely not face that prospect so we buckled down and managed to finish on time. We learnt so much in those five days, about the music, about ourselves and about quartet playing! Thanks again to our amazing recording team Rob Suff, Dave Rowell @filoclassical and Matthew Bennett as well as Banff International String Quartet Competition for helping to fund the release. We have much more in the pipeline at @bisrecordsofficial We’re on a train ride across Germany working on the edits of Ravel and Takemitsu, to be released next spring along with Debussy.
