At the Marley’s Mutts Rescue Ranch, we take in dogs from some of the most heartbreaking situations imaginable — cruelty cases, severe neglect, abandonment, and large-scale hoarding environments where dogs may have spent their entire lives without safety, structure, or positive human interaction.
Freedom is one of those dogs.
Coming from a hoarding situation, Freedom arrived deeply fearful and completely unfamiliar with healthy human connection. Even simple things — eye contact, touch, walking on leash, entering new spaces — can feel overwhelming for dogs who have lived in survival mode for so long.
Rehabilitating dogs like Freedom is not quick or easy. It requires patience, emotional intelligence, consistency, and an enormous amount of individualized care.
Our staff takes as much time as needed with dogs like him. Every interaction matters. Every small breakthrough matters. Building trust with traumatized animals takes calm energy, structure, repetition, and compassion — and our team shows up every single day willing to do that difficult work.
This is far more than walking dogs or cleaning kennels. It is specialized rehabilitation for vulnerable souls who have nowhere else to go. And we are deeply grateful for the staff members who continue to fight for dogs like Freedom until they finally feel safe. 🐾
🐾 Become a Monthly Hero for Rescue Dogs 🐾
Every day, we say yes to dogs who have nowhere else to go — the abandoned, the neglected, the forgotten, and the ones who just need a second chance. Rescue doesn’t stop after one vet visit or one meal. These dogs need ongoing care, safety, and love while they wait for their forever homes.
That’s why we’re asking our community to become monthly donors. Even a small recurring gift makes a huge difference:
🐶 $10/month helps provide food🐶 $25/month helps cover vaccines🐶 $50/month helps with medical care🐶 Any amount helps save lives
Monthly donations give us something priceless: the ability to plan ahead and say YES when another dog needs us.
If you’ve ever shared our posts, cheered on an adoption, or believed in what we do — this is one of the most powerful ways to help.
❤️ Please consider becoming a recurring donor today and help us keep tails wagging, kennels emptying, and hope alive.

Last week was an incredible day for the SNIP Bus, and my heart is so full of gratitude. ❤️
The team worked tirelessly and helped 31 animals on our single SNIP Bus trip alone, with 81 total animals spayed and neutered for the entire day. That’s 81 lives changed, countless future litters prevented, and so many animals given a better future.
Days like these take so much dedication, compassion, and teamwork. From the veterinary staff to the volunteers, drivers, supporters, and everyone working behind the scenes — thank you for showing up for these animals and making this possible.
Your hard work truly matters, and the impact reaches far beyond one day. Every single animal helped last week mattered. 🐾❤️
Thank you, SNIP Bus team, for everything you do for our community and the animals who depend on us.
Love changes lives — for humans AND dogs. 🐶💕

Sweet Scarlet. ❤️
When Scarlet came to us, she needed help in a big way. Living with megaesophagus means even eating can be a challenge, but thanks to your support, she now has a Bailey Chair, specialized care, and a team committed to helping her thrive.
She’s already gaining weight, feeling stronger, and showing us that gentle spirit we all fell in love with. Dogs like Scarlet remind us why we fight so hard for the vulnerable ones — because every life deserves patience, dignity, and love.
Thank you for helping us show up for dogs like Scarlet every single day at Marley’s Mutts 🐾
☀️🐾 SPLASH ZONE ACTIVATED 🐾☀️
It’s pool party season at the ranch and these water-loving pups are READY to make a splash! 💦🐶
Meekah, Kay, Tim, and Mia had the BEST day cooling off, chasing toys, and showing off their goofy personalities in the pool! From zoomies to cannonballs (well… doggy style 😂), these sweet pups are full of love and looking for families of their own. ❤️
Could one of these adorable swimmers be your new best friend? 🏡🐾
They’re all available for adoption through Marley's Mutts — and trust us, they’re even cuter in person!

We're proud to be a recipient of an It Takes Balls Southern California grant! Thank you, @muttnation and @dorisdayanimalfoundation -- your generous support allows us to expand our vital low-cost spay/neuter programs and help us reduce the shelter pet population in our community.
At Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue, we remain deeply committed to reducing pet overpopulation through accessible spay/neuter services that support both animals and the people who love them. These community focused efforts are critical to decreasing shelter intake and preventing unnecessary euthanasia.
As we continue expanding this mission throughout our region, we are actively seeking additional foundation partners and corporate sponsors who want to invest in meaningful and measurable community impact through lifesaving spay/neuter initiatives. Contact: [email protected]
#FBF : Hooch’s story is one we’ll never forget.
He was a Dogue de Bordeaux who came to us after unimaginable abuse—his ears cut off, his tongue brutally removed. He should not have survived. And yet… he did. Not only did he survive, he thrived. Hooch became a symbol of resilience, of joy, of what’s possible when love steps in where cruelty once lived.
The world took notice. Hooch was honored as American Hero Dog Awards Hero Dog of the Year, representing everything good that can come from second chances.
Because of Hooch, everything changed. What was once considered a death sentence—a dog living without a tongue—is now something we fight for. Today, we see dozens of dogs every year survive this kind of trauma, go on to live full, happy lives, and even help heal others. That’s Hooch’s legacy.
And now, it’s our responsibility to carry that forward.
Tuesday, May 5 is Give Big Kern—the biggest charitable giving day of the year here in Kern County. If Hooch’s story moves you, if you believe in rewriting what’s possible for dogs who have been discarded, please consider donating to Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue.
Because there’s another Hooch out there right now… and they’re going to need us.
Meet Kermit.
Kermit is about a year and a half old and lives with Swimmer Syndrome, a condition that caused his back legs to splay outward and ultimately left him paraplegic.
And yet… not once has this dog ever felt sorry for himself.
Kermit LOVES his Walkin’ Pets wheelchair. It’s given him freedom, confidence, speed, and enough mobility to seriously build up his shoulder and arm muscles. Honestly, sometimes we swear we catch him flexing in the mirror after a workout. 💪😂
Dogs like Kermit remind us that resilience isn’t loud or dramatic. Sometimes it just looks like joy. Adaptation. Gratitude. Forward motion.
If you’d like to support dogs like Kermit, please visit Marley’s Mutts for all your rescue dog needs. 🐾
