SEEKING DONATIONS for a camp for kids that have been, or are currently in, the foster care system in Los Angeles. Picture 1: A child’s delicate, thoughtful painting on my face. Picture 2: The work of children with too much tape asking, “What can we do to Ryan today?” Would you believe it’s almost time to do it all over again? I’m seeking donations for a 5-day overnight camp for these amazing kids. This will be my 9th year serving alongside RealityLA and For the Children/RFKC (Royal Family Kids Camp). This camp is for kids ages 6-12. We get to see returning campers every year and have seen some of them through each age. Throughout the year, some campers have also attended our mentorship program in which they see their counselor and fellow campers every month. When they reach 12, we spend our last morning together hearing each of their counselors speak to their character. The camper also has the opportunity to share with everyone what their counselor and their time at camp has meant to them. This is a profoundly beautiful moment filled with tears of love and gratitude. To see them feel loved, valued, worthy, capable, confident—that they feel at home in this place, that they feel known by their Heavenly Father—it is a true gift to witness. This year, we’ll be welcoming 42 new and returning kids to camp. All-in, it costs over $850 per camper this year. I’m seeking to raise that amount or more as part of our larger team goal of $75,000. This goes to paying for the campsite, food, lodging, activities, supplies, birthday gifts, and everything else involved with camp. Our funds are also used to spur on our year-long mentorship program. It’s that time of year again! I’m seeking donations for a week-long camp for kids that have been or are currently in the foster care system, ages 6-12. This will be my 8th year serving alongside RealityLA and RFKC (Royal Family Kids Camp). Every year we’ve welcomed new and returning campers, some of which we’ve seen all the way through that 6-12 age range. It’s hard to express just how much it means to share this experience with these amazing kids or how incredible it is to witness the shift they make at camp. Seeing them settle in and have a blast with their personal counselor, their new or old friends, their siblings (some of which live in different homes, so this is a chance for them to be together for an extended period of time)--it’s one of the most beautiful sights I’ll ever witness. There’s not enough character space to share a story from camp here, so the story is in the comments! As a team, we're seeking to raise $65,000 to provide a free camp for our campers. This goes toward campground amenities, food, lodging, activities, supplies, birthday gifts, and more. All-in, it costs over $800 per camper this year. Season 5 of The Chosen (@thechosentvseries ) hit theaters on March 27th with the third installment released on April 11th. I’m very happy to have gotten to be a part of this season and work with my brother again. The sunset I witnessed that evening after filming meant a lot too. Seeking donations for a camp for kids that have been or are currently in foster care! This year will be my 7th year volunteering with RealityLA and Royal Family Kids Camp; a camp for children that have been or are in foster care. I’m seeking donations for a week of love and fun for these amazing children. LA county has the largest foster care crisis in the US with 35,000 children. The need to love and care for these kids is massive. I shared this last time I posted about camp, but I think it’s such a key example of how we hope and pray these kids will feel. Last year one of the campers shared this, “My favorite thing about camp was that I don’t have to feel ashamed of being adopted.” Some of these kids come in carrying unimaginable burdens and if just one of them feels like that has been lifted in any measure, then it will always be worth it. This camp serves as an opportunity to love these children exactly where they’re at, through the lens of their adoring Heavenly Father. It has always been a gift to serve at this camp and be with these incredible kids. Some of our campers have returned every year and have truly impacted me. I am seeking to raise a minimum of $550 as a part of our larger team goal of $60,000. This goes to paying for the campsite, food, lodging, activities, supplies, birthday gifts, and more.
