When raw material costs rise this sharply, the thinking has to get better. We just sent out a newsletter addressing the elephant in the room -- prices. The cost of metals. How it impacts us, and you. Our goal has never changed: to make jewelry that is beautiful and functional without compromise. And yes, we want it to be accessible to as many of you as possible. Since starting the company, we’ve built an accidental system that doesn’t depend on a single material or a single definition of value. That independence, and the curiosity that drives it, has allowed us to work across materials like Dyneema, rubber, fordite, porcelain, brass, titanium, bricks, stones, and other considered alloys alongside gold, platinum, silver, precious stones….and no we are not done yet. #marlaaaronjewelry

@tanyadukes @nytimes Thank you thank you thank you. There are so many people that I need to thank but I will start with Tanya for this wonderful article. And most especially the extraordinary extraordinary team @porzellanmanufakturnymphenburg that showed me an extraordinary kindness in their very first visit to my very first workshop in 2017 and then even more patience as I figured out what we could do together to make sure that more people could experience the unique magic of hand painted porcelain as jewelry. Thank you to our ENTIRE company because every single person touched this project in some way. Link will be in bio maybe forever PS super duper shout out to glam queen @marcisaucedonyc who made me look like this for the NY TIMES ❤️🙏

This is a direct quote from Marla: “Trundle Lock rings. They are rings. They are Locks. They can also be a bracelet, or necklace, in which one can feel really comfortable ordering a tuna sandwich.” Anyway… Champagne garnet Total Baguette Trundle Lock Ring 16” Heavy Curb Chain 17” Pulley Chain 18” Not So Heavy Curb Chain Why are you still here? #trundlelockring #marlaaaronjewelry

Just something interesting to share with you all. One of my greatest honors of this work has been what we have done with hand engravers When we began working with hand engravers — like the very first time I gave a Regular Lock to a hand engraver to do an all over engraving, I knew I wanted what they did for us to be at their discretion. I said”do whatever you want, what you think is possible”. And other than specific custom projects, our all over Hand Engraved Locks have always been at the discretion of the hand engraver. Here you see two of them side by side, different work, both beautiful. Always one of a kind. Also I left the sounds in the background because it’s such a quintessential conversation that happens around our jewelry and that’s how to extend a chain by using a bigger or a smaller Lock or two. It’s the ongoing debate. Do you get a longer chain or do you extend with a Lock? Basically it’s how to make it absolutely yours. Which was always the point. #marlaaaraonjewelry

This was supposed to be a tomorrow post, but Consuelo just shared the most delicious lineup on her wrist (see stories) , so now it’s a today post. There’s no such thing as too many Consuelos. What started as a custom piece made years ago became the Consuelo Lock. Hers was enormous, so we made a smaller version and named it after her. I thought that would be the end of it. It wasn’t. It isn’t. Now, nearly a decade later, Consuelo has become an entire series: the Lock in three sizes, plus the Trundle Lock Ring. And honestly, there’s probably still room in the world for more Consuelos, because that’s how much everyone loves them. Consuelos for everyone. #marlaaaronjewelry #consuelolock

It’s about pearls. In London. Finally. We are thrilled to finally be able to offer our beloved Your Pearls Reimagined service at our shop in @libertylondon . Come see us and bring us your pearls to add new life. Everyone else, if rethinking your pearls is something you’re interested in, walk with us. How it works in London: Visit us at our concession at Liberty. Bring pearls with you — on a strand, half strand, loose in a pouch, inherited or new — and we’ll have them restrung for you on silk (there are 12 colors to choose from), and add loops (in 14k yellow, rose, or white gold; or pavé diamonds) so you can wear your pearls with our Locks. This allows you to combine your pearls with chains, wrap them in new and interesting ways, dangle charms from them — it essentially gives them an entirely new life other than sitting at the bottom of your jewelry box. The process takes approximately 4–6 weeks. It’s incredibly fun, whimsical even, and it really lets your pearls “flex” — they can still be serious, or they can be quite playful, it’s really up to you... Please, ask us questions, visit us, bring us your pearls! And if you’re not in London, well this is just a reminder that restringing your pearls is a very fun thing to do. It also makes an excellent gift and you can do it: -Online by searching Your Pearls Reimagined -In our showroom — just bring them in - at any of our wonderful retail partners. Just being them in. #marlaaaronjewelry #yourpearlsreimagined

One thing about us? We are always asking you to use our jewelry to create in personal ways. One could say Knot the String Project takes that idea to new levels but does it really? By offering you components — Locks and Chains and rings that do things and all kinds of separate pieces, the very foundation of our work is asking you to walk with us.And if you want us to help, we do that too. But my thinking has always been that when you see our pieces , it will unlock (forgive me) your own ideas about how you want to wear your jewelry. OK? We’re not done yet.

First and foremost Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! Storytime. I have told this story often in person but I don’t think I’ve done it here for you before. At perhaps one of the hardest moments for me as a single mom— emotionally, financially…. in every way, I got invited to a very fancy dinner that I had no business being at. When I arrived, I saw that I had been seated next to a famous, wealthy celebrity kind of person. I could only think “what in god’s name am I possibly going to talk about with this person? We have absolutely nothing in common. I shouldn’t have come.” I had a lovely time talking to her. It turned out she was also a single mom. Who knew? In the end we talked about the fundamental loneliness of single motherhood. I mean we talked about other things but I left with that thought. And I realized that the experience of single motherhood is specific and universal in many ways— rich, poor and everything in between. It’s why we put an “!” on the sterling silver Heartlock we give to single moms across the country (and the UK too now) for the !!! of motherhood. It’s a badge of honor. Literally. So it would be a few years before the #lockyourmom project would really kick off but I think I formulated the idea for it that night at that dinner recognizing the solidarity of our “single momness”. I hope you enjoy this little recap of our fifth annual luncheon for some special single moms through the incredible @henrystreetsettlement . The wonderful chef @dedefalk served up a delicious meal and @materialforthearts brought gorgeous gifts and helped us make sure every mama left with a bouquet of flowers. We had a special visitor. I am still getting over that. (Thank you @debbiecoxles35 for bringing the one and only @loueyfromthehood ) 🙏🥹💝💐🌼🌻🌺 #lockyourmom @andrewleeimaging thank you for this…the 11th consecutive year of #lockyourmom storytelling

The phrase “that’s very editorial” is lifted straight from the world of fashion editors and stylists who arrange pieces from collections of jewelry, clothes and objects in ways that they will have maximum impact artistically not commercially. (Sometimes they even make that distinction and say “oh that’s too commercial”… we will save that breakdown for another time.) How they bring things together is about surprise and delight and reveling in the beauty of objects. I’m here to say we can do this with our own cadre of things every single day, however we wish. Because most interesting things are often comprised of the most surprising. Rubber and diamonds as an example of this. Do I think someone will do this if they don’t own a jewelry company that makes rubber Locks ? I don’t really know. Do I think it’s stunning? Yes. Yes I do. I think it’s pretty darn editorial…. Do this. Do that. But most importantly I hope you have pieces of jewelry you can assemble over and over again in ways that will surprise you. “À la folie” for us all…. An Allstone Musgrave Lock. Some rubber Locks.. #marlaaaronjewelry #musgravelock
