So sad to hear about the passing of Slarta John. Legend of the game whose voice will be permanently etched in my mind as itâs intrinsically linked to our career through our @basement_jaxx Jump âN Shout remix and his feature on our Azzido Da Bass Dooms Night Remix. If youâve heard us play a set in the last 25 years youâve also heard Slarta John RIP â
First time I heard Good Vibrations as a kid, I was completely mesmerised. His writing opened a door in my head thatâs never closed. The tag of âgeniusâ gets thrown around a lot, but for me, only he and Prince truly earned it.
His approach to harmony, to rule-breaking, to creating art from inner chaos taught me much. The studio was his sanctuary and he was a master of it.
I was lucky enough to see him play Glastonbury a few years back, in the sunshine, exactly where his music belongs. Rest in peace Brian, and thank you for the vibrations. đđđ
