I finally went back to Dahab to catch up with the locals @one_breath_freediving , @nannakreutzmann and @timo.elony . Sleeping in. Work on that horrible duckdive of mine. Drink some avocado lassie in the sun, and even did a bit of rock climbing in the wadi!

Thoughts on freediving.
Even though it has been a while since the last serious dives, freediving is often on my mind. Or very fittingly just below the surface. So is climbing, but in a very distinct way. Whereas climbing always felt somewhat like a battle, freediving feels much more like ābeing heldā. That might sound like a negative versus positive thing, but I must admit I like a battle or two, and people who know me also know that I am generally not so fond of ābeing heldā, so no dichotomy here.
A few years ago I bought the Almus woodblock print from @ramirorodriguezartist - see above. It felt meaningful in many ways, but to me it resonates more and more the appeal of freediving. When my body reaches negative buoyancy and starts falling into the deep Nothing, there is always a strong and lucid feeling of being held. Something beyond the sensory feedback of water and the building pressure. Almus is Latin for ānourishingā or ānurturingā, so that print really seems to fit. In any way it is incredible how art can capture, convey and/or evoke such profound emotions. Whether deliberately or not.
