Back in Taiwan, where we had a meeting of the Taiwan Overtone Singing Association. Special focus: Mediterranean traditions of brotherhoods that produce a fusion of overtones. A warm-up to boost a full resonance; deep listening exercises to hear these elusive choral overtones; and nice improvisations around liturgical chants by several members.
Attending the Study Day in memory of Frans de Ruiter this afternoon at the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts, Leiden University. Impressive line-up of speakers. Tonight a concert by Ton Koopman which unfortunately I cannot make - but there are spots left still if you want to see another legend of Dutch music.

What a treasure of a location Sauli Heikkilä of the Finnish Throat Singing Society found: Kampin Kappeli in Helsinki. Tonight at 7 PM: my new program Imbalance.
First destination in Brussels: the Instrumentenmuseum, and it was closed (All Saints). But this very same day my local guide Serge Onnen demonstrated a new instrument he invented: a flute built into a mask. To be premiered in Serge’s new show in Bozar, this spring (and to be acquired by the Instrumentenmuseum in 2053, I estimate).
And by the way: Bozar is a serious and practical pun on the bilingual nature of Belgium’s capital. You give the Wallonians their French word - Beaux Arts - but you write the way the Flemish hear it.
You don’t pronounce an E, an A, or an U, but just an O? You get an O.
You don’t pronounce an X? Skip it.
You don’t say S after Art? Delete.
Wallonians happy (sort of).
Flemish happy (very).
Brussels is a feast.
