I switched to a bit of nonfiction reading recently. This is more of a self-help and educational reading as I was recently diagnosed with ADHD Predominantly Inattentive.
It was a long road to the diagnosis and it helped me understand a LOT. So, why not spend some time understanding it, learning the history (first known in 1798? wow), and making plans to tackle it.

This book was refreshing.
I have not been on a reading tear as I have in the recent past. There is something to say about having external deadlines to finish books. Although, these were nonfiction books, and Earthsea was anything but.
Le Guin has always been of interest to me, and the Earthsea Cycle has been a series that’s been continuously recommended to me. For whatever insane reason, I never read it. I never read her. Yet, a few years ago, I had purchased a few of her books. Not just any kind of book, like a mass market paperback at a used bookstore. No. I purchased a hard copy collector’s edition from Folio Society. These are much pricier than your average book copy. And I would argue, prettier.
It was a risky investment. One that I was convinced would have a good payoff. But did it?

ASMR writing urban fantasy story about a boy witch
Continuation of my reading The Morning Star. It’s a surprisingly smooth read. I least aim to read a page or two but they just melt away, which says a lot about the writing. I can only hope to write a smidgen as good as Knausgaard.

I just got my blu-ray collection for some of Miyazaki’s work. I also just happen to have the book that inspired it. Of course, there are differences, but I still like them both.

400 pages in, I decided to grab the physical copy of “The Morning Star”. I’ve really been enjoying this writing and being shocked at how intimate and vulnerable he makes the characters.
✍️ I also spent some time transferring my annotations to the book. Yes, I write in my books. It’s a great way to converse with the author or engage deeper with the book. Even if it’s simple reactions.
Finished a chapter for Project Witch this weekend. They are much shorter than I’d like, but I’ll fix that in editing. I spent the rest of my session taking notes on what I need to fix and what’s needed in the next few chapters. So close to wrapping up the first half.
