Meet the band: @markstuart253 Bass
Born in East Anglia but growing up in the Westcountry, Mark started playing both guitar and bass guitar in his teens, playing bass in his first band at 18. A grunge loving teen, heavily into the likes of Nirvana and Alice in Chains you’d maybe be surprised to learn that the original inspiration to pick up the bass guitar was from hearing RHCP’s ‘Flea’ on early Chilli’s tracks like ‘Stone Cold Bush’, ‘Skinny Sweaty Man’ and ‘Behind the Sun’ but with such a diverse taste in music and drawing inspiration from everything from Earth Wind and Fire to Weather Report, from Rush to Rage Against the Machine and from Marcus Miller to Tool. Marks tastes are truly eclectic and he often pulls inspiration from some very surprising places. Having played for over 20 years in a variety of bands ranging from prog rock, grunge, indie, electronica, funk & soul, ska/reggae, jazz and blues, hiphop was a new concept and a bit of a learning curve but by stepping back a bit and generally playing less notes in R&TP which was in a lot of ways the most challenging aspect, the dynamics of the music really came together and evolved into what is now a very powerful sound.
