Two weeks ago, I had a great Dark Souls photo shoot with @stefan_brauner to take some cool pictures of the finished Balder Sidesword.
I threw on my armor and we drove to some castle ruins.

The Balder Sidesword from Dark Souls in all it's beauty! Very happy how it turned out!
The blade is made of steel, while the crossguard an pommel are cold cast with pale gold. The Handle is made of wood, wrapped in black faux leather.

The final part of the Balder Sidesword (Dark Souls) built!
It's so cool to see everything coming together.
Pressfitted the crossguard onto the blade and secured it with the handle, which I then glued together with 2k epoxy. For additional stability, I added a steel rod which connected the blade with the pommel. Then I tightly wrapped it in some black faux leather.
I'm very happy how it turned out. What do you think?

The crossguard is made by "cold casting" it with metal powder and quick curing resin. This was especially challenging, due to the hole in the middle of the crossguard.
But it came out perfectly the first try! After some cleanup and weathering, there is only one thing left: assebling all the parts!

In order to cast the crossguard of the sword, i neede to make a two-part mold. This step was oretty challenging, but worked out pretty well in the end. I used some brush on silicone that I strenghend by gluing on some ore cast pieces, some fabrig and some metal wire.
Next step: casting the last piece!

To make the crossguard and pommel look as realistic as possible, I've decided to "cold cast" them. Cold casting means to powder a silicone mold with metal powder and filling it up with resin.
This process produces a real sturdy and realistic looking metal finish.
But be careful: if you use a fast curing "slush-resin" you want to make many layers. Otherwise it will get too hot and start boiling!

I wanted to share some amazimg pictures from the @toxygen.film -Set. It was so cool to see the props I've build beeing used on set.
In the world of [T]OXYGEN, there is no longer any breathable air. People work in factories and are paid in oxygen.
To assess how much oxygen they receive and how much they have left, everyone wears a device on their forearm and a display with their number on their upper arm.

Here is the final "Scanner-Unit" prop for the dystopian scifi movie @toxygen.film !
In the world of Toxygen, there is no longer any breathable air. People work in huge factories and are paid in oxygen.
This "Scanner" machine is used to read the workers' arm computers and determine how much oxygen they receive.
To do this, they must insert their arm into the machine and are locked in during the reading process.
I added some rust and grime, a removable flap for closeup-shots & some decals.
I am very happy with the result! Can't wait to see it on screen!

The movi-prop Scanner for the dystopian sci fi movie @toxygen.film is assebled and the electronics are working!
The locking-mechanism and internal lights are triggered by pulling a lever on the inside.
Now all thats missing are some details and the weathering. Stay tuned!
