Go stream Lighten Up! We had a blast recording this one.
It started with a riff in the studio - I got lyrics together pretty quick and we banged this one out.
.
(Short version..) “The song is a memo: a loud reminder to not take myself too seriously. This life is meant to be enjoyed and lived.”

Lyrics:
Lately I feel like we’re losing and losing our minds
wake up and talk to myself, say “we’re all just fine”
Sweat on my brow and the chills running down my spine
Head filled with doubt and the light’s too dim to shine
Oh I know we’ll rise as one
even when so much hurt has been done
Just like you said yeah we’re ending up in a ditch
Praying for someone or something to hear our wish
Oh I know we’ll rise as one
even when so much hurt has been done
What’s the use in talking
Its already been said anyway
The ocean it breathes
Waves they crash
On a shore that’s holding fast
All of my fear
It disappears
When I know that we are
As One
Sometimes this darkness at night finds us in a plunge
selfish, infectious agendas fill up our lungs
Head in my hands I just keep asking myself why
This Loss of connection and hatred continues to find
Oh I
know we’ll rise as one
even when all of this hurt has been done
This light
Keeps us moving on
Closer to
A love that lives as one
As One

I lost my big brother yesterday. Phux was the best friend I could have ever asked for. He was also a mentor, coach and cheerleader to me. I was l lucky enough to be able to co-produce and mix most of his music over the past two decades.
Before I met Hux, I was a fan of his music and filled with intrigue. I was formally introduced to him by the Demeo / O’connell families in 2007. Then my life changed. Hux taught me so much. Either directly or via observation. He pushed me, challenged me and rewarded me. As a result,I became a better listener, producer and person.
Parth and I spent a lot of time together over the years, more than I have spent with any other human other than my family. He is so woven into my existence. We just connected on everything. Music, sports, comedy, Godzilla … literally everything. Parth had a stunning wit and always kept me laughing. From day 1 I know we would be the best of friends forever. I found someone who was as nutty as myself. So much laughter and joy. We would often regress to our adolescent selves.
Much of our work creating his records was done as a duo in the studio. We would get his incredible band ( Gordon, Ricky, Dave, Daniel and Ben ) to cut the basic tracks live and then it was time to paint. He was so fun to create with. I really loved his fearlessness and dedication to the details of making his songs so great. He really cared about every note and every word. And if he had a unique idea, there was no stopping him, regardless of public opinion.
He truly was my hero and one of the most amazing creators to walk this big rock. Everything he created was precious. Especially his 2 daughters. Fiona and Imogen are two of the most 3d individuals that you will ever meet. Like their mother Helle, they shine ever so brightly and have inherited every ounce of creativity, wit and beauty from their parents . What a treasure to be accepted and welcomed by their family.
The past few months have been both challenging and beautiful. I have been very fortunate to spend a good deal of time with Hux. When he realized that his time may be limited, he reached out to me to start a new record. We got about 70% finished and I will be
