Fantastic to see the Phoenix Women’s team in the Ninja A-League Grand Final on Saturday – the first New Zealand team to make an A-League Grand Final.
This amazing achievement reflects the hard work and commitment from the whole team.

Tax relief. FamilyBoost childcare tax rebate. Increased Superannuation. Fuel support for low and middle income working families.
National is helping Kiwis with the cost of living.
Great to attend the official opening of the Police Custody training suite at the Royal NZ Police College last week.
The new technologies they are implementing in the custody cells are designed to keep those in custody, as well as frontline officers safe.
Having a dedicated custody training suite means our police officers get access to realistic life training scenarios to prepare and equip them for when they come out.
Thank you to everyone who has made this happen.
Police in New Zealand do outstanding work.
They have made great progress in getting on top of the violence and lawlessness we used to see.
I’m proud of the work they’ve done, and this government backs them. We have introduced tough new anti gang laws, got rid of gang patches, made significant changes to sentencing laws, abandoned the 30% prison reduction target and got Police back on their core role, highly visible and back out in the communities that they serve.
We have more work to do and we are just getting on with it.
It has been a great trip to Samoa with the Prime Minister.
We have a fantastic delegation and it doesn’t get much better having Sir Michael Jones and Rachel Afeaki taking leading roles.
We signed two important MOU’s between our respective Customs Directors and Police Commissioners.
I spent a lot of time with the Pacific Transnational Crime Co ordination Center team based in Apia. Police Commissioner Richard Chambers and I received a detailed brief on the work they are doing across the Pacific which is impressive. We reinforced our support to them which includes the Commissioner increasing the resources and capability of the team. I thanked them for the work they are doing and reinforced the commitment, backing and determination of our Government to disrupt and disable Drug Cartels and Organised Crime groups.
As Minister of Police I am fortunate to have the backing of a Prime Minister who shares the same sense of responsibility and urgency around not just the public safety of our own country but also the safety and security of our Pacific nations.
Our commitment to working closely together was reaffirmed in the Cabinet room yesterday.
Police foot patrols have increased 95% since National took office. That’s almost double the number of Police on the beat, thanks to our 12 community beat teams around the country.
National is restoring law and order so Kiwis are safer.
