Over the last 15 years I’ve been fortunate to have screened my movies for members of the Japanese parliament. Perhaps the most memorable “screening” was in 2018 when we gathered to watch a film called The Vessel which was about a town that had been ravaged by a tsunami and just as I was about to push the play button one of the members raised his hand and asked “can we just talk about President Trump instead?” So I said sure and promised to send them a link so they could watch it later and proceeded to field questions about the President for the next two hours. Most recently I asked one of the members how they could take two hours in the midst of so much chaos in the world and he said it was just the opposite-that it was nice to get a two hour break from all the chaos. I hope we’ll get to do it again soon.
William King, founder of the legendary Commodores is the next guest on the podcast. We talk about the song we produced for the movie, Lionel Richie and much more. Coming soon!
25 years ago six of us sat around a conference table and invented the Damah Film Festival. We started in Seattle, migrated to LA, then to Hiroshima before settling in Tokyo. This year one of our original jurors, Janet Batchler of Batman fame was our special guest. Thanks to all who made our 25th our best festival yet!
Thank you to the members of the Japanese parliament who came out for a screening of the movie and also to the legendary baseballer Bobby Valentine who joined us. It can now be seen there on Amazon Prime and U-Next
